I’m getting ready to make another batch of ointment and thinking about a few changes. I prepared my previous batch pretty much the same as I do for edibles. Decarbed, coco oil with lecithin, multiple heat/freeze cycles then added some emu oil and beeswax to make the topical. It worked just ok for the chronic pain in my hands and feet but really shined for more sporadic aches and pains such as a sore back, knee pains, stiff neck, etc.
For this upcoming batch any advice or experience would be greatly appreciated on the following:
Decarbing – I’m primarily concerned about pain control; does it help or is it just a waste of time?
Lecithin – I know it helps absorption in edibles; does it also help transdermal absorption or have another benefit?
Cannabis roots – I plan on using some root this time; anyone else used roots before?
