@jimihendrix1 he knows a fair bit about it bud
Meigs County Gold was created by William Keith "Noodle" Hayes. He was from Meigs county Ohio, and died at Stmarys Medical Center, in Huntington, West Virginia. I think he was 76 in 2020. When he passed. He was born in 1944.

Meigs Gold, was Willie Nelson favorite weed at one time, and used to visit Noodle, at his farm.

As was said. His son, was on this forum a while back. But hasnt been back since.

Another guy gave me a message a few weeks ago, and is from Athens, and is a buddy, with Noodles Nephew, and he hunts with the guy at Dopa Genetics, and Copa got some of the Meigs Gold Seeds, and found some keepers, and is hybridizing it.

My buddy met Noodle, in 1971-72, when his band-Appalachian Mainline, opened for Joe Walsh, at Athens-Ohio University. Which is also known as one of, if not the biggest party school, in the country, and has been for 50 years.

Noodle gave my buddy the first Indica, we ever even heard of. In 1972. Noodle, had been collecting seeds, since the 1960s, and was well known in the Appalachian Growers circle.
In the 70s, Meigs was known as the Humboldt County, of the East. We used to get all kinds of weed, in my small city, from Athens, Meigs, Morgantown Wva, Cincinnatti, Detroit. Columbus Ohio. We are right in the middle of all those places.

Noodle also gave my buddy the first Skunk we ever saw, or heard of, in 78-79. And it really did reek, like a Skunk, though, we never referred to it as RKS. Buddy grew it until 84, and a friend/RAT, ratted him out, and he lost the strain.

My buddy says Noodle said the Skunk was a Kerela x an Unnamed Indica. Whether he told the truth, I dont know. But thats what my buddy told me Noodle, said it was. What we had, was Sativa Dominant, and wasnt done, until late October. The plants could get huge, it given enough space, soil, water, and sun.
Buddy grew it mainly on the Big Sandy/Levisa Fork, Ohio River, Kentucky River, Cave Run Lake, Scioto River. All this was in the middle of nowhere, in the 80s.

Heres the message a guy from Athens, near Meigs, sent me a few weeks back. He is a well known member here.

Hi there!

I am a hobby grower, musician, and engineer living in Athens, OH. I have been doing a lot of research on Noodles as of recent. I've been collecting local strains (Lemon G, Deathstar, Dumpster, Illudium, etc,). I really hope to show people what a great history of cannabis we have here in Ohio.

I play music down in Pomeroy a lot and have met some old heads down in Meigs county who have been telling me lore about Noodles and all the awesome strains he grew down here. I truly appreciate all the info you put up about him in this post: https://www.rollitup.org/t/old-school-skunk-whos-found-it.943043/post-17302458

I noticed you said your buddy opened for James Gang/Joe Walsh, how cool! A lot of the guys I play music with are in their 70's now and they had lots of good memories of those bands. They said they were out of Kent, and obviously played all around.

I just wanted to pop in and let you know that Meigs Gold is still kicking! Noodles handed out beans of some of his stuff to his family. One of Noodles' nephews happens to be hunting friends with Copa (of Copa Genetics) and they got to talking. Copa got the Meigs Gold seeds and grew them out, found few keepers, bred F2s and also some of his own crosses. I'm working with Copa and his team now to hopefully acquire some of those genetics so I can bring them back to their homeland!

Anywho, thanks again for sharing your insight on the subject!

Who has the Ohio G13? Verifiable. Youve had if for years. Not the new cut that’s spreading like wild fire.
Id be wary none are going to be pure g13 at best a hybrid or a bx line with a selected g13 dominant pheno the real ones dead despite what some claim there's plenty of good lines with it in it available though
