New grower here. Small one at that. All outside, 4 containers & 1 with the corn in the garden. Week of rain came on last week, pulled all containers & processed, covered the big girl in the garden (who has colas like tomahawk cruisers). Watched it like a hawk. Caught powdery mildew this am, and yanked it. Get's worse. Inside the big colas was soft and brown, assuming bud rot. Cut out everything that had that and sprayed the rest with 3% hydrogen peroxide, got it drying now. Have attached photo of what I think is bud rot. Help a brother out if u can. Have I correctly recognized my problems and responded appropriately? Shit, thanks. U know I'm cryin.

that is a very sad picture. I'm sorry my brother, but although you did recognize the problem, your crop is likely lost. We will know more when it is dry, but in the mean time to learn for next time:

Although you prevented the girls from getting wet by covering them, they were still in a very humid (rainy) environment with almost 100% RH in time of rain. Also, covering them prevented air exchange around the buds, which would have helped to counter BR. But in a closed and damp environment for a while, mold is bound to happen. So covering them was a mistake, but I assume there was no other way to save them as you couldn't bring them home. The best way about it would be to give them a roof without actually covering them (which is maybe what you did actually), but they would still be vulnerable.

Growing is tough dude, count your losses and move on, for better luck next time. As for the buds, most people will not smoke moldy buds, I personally do but only if it's just a little :)

peroxide should help to counter, and water curing is an option for later on. In the mean time, you have to make sure that they are drying fast in a low RH environment with plenty of fresh air. If not, you should try artificial means like an oven at low temperature.

Thanks for your response. I did build a hoop house over it, but temps/RH just wouldn't help. Holdin out for those amber tricomes u know, not greedy just hopeful. As I said, cut out all bud rot which meant trashing most of the big colas and sprayed (not bathed) in h2o2, drying at 75-80 deg with lots of air. Saw video on h2o2 bath, will try that if it ever happens again. What is water curing??

yea its bud rot, sorry! thats why i like going indoors, more control of the environment.

I think water curing is leaving water in an open container for a few days so the crap evaporates off of it, Chlorine/chloramine/ammonia/flouride mainly. they say 24 hours and its good to go, i usually go 3 days

Good luck next time.

that is not water curing.

water curing is when you put your buds in a jar of water. you change the water every day or so being delicate, dont shake it. decant the liquid and fill with more water. this allows all the water soluble compounds to leech out of the bud, while still retaining the trics. You continue the water cure till the water comes out clear. dry the bud and smoke. im sure there are more detailed ways but this is just a brief overview.

I would make hash. iso or bubble. it will get rid of most any spores and toxins. I would not smoke it or cook with it, too many risks and bad taste.
