Im wondering if maybe it could be the neighbor smoking. I dont know any of my neighbors, so I dont know if they smoke. There is a carbon filter with the grow, and it doesnt smell in the apt, but when walking in to the apartment building, It smells. As soon as walking into apt. there is no smell at all. Is this possible that it could be coming from the grow with the carbon filter. The filter is not old or anything. There is a small space at bottom of box, might that make a big difference in how well the filter works..

i was watching this show, worlds worst tenants and they were out in cali.. they had a call about the smell of cannabis in one of the complexes, they knocked on this one door and it was an old lady, in her 70s or so, and asked her if she smelled cannabis, and she said no, but i do grow it, lmao.. she had a killer setup going and it was getting into the ventilation system of the apt. complex and it could be smelled all over..

Maybe your neighbour is growing. Smokin marijuana is a very different smell than growing marijuana.

Racerboy, even without any smell in the apt, and there is no ventalation in the building, but even without smell in the apt, how could it smell in the hallways. I dont understand that.

carbon filters, while they work great, they're not perfect imo.. i can still smell the bud throughout the crib when i'm in full flower.. of course some strains are worse then others...

and what do you mean no ventilation system in the apt? what sort of heat do you have? don't you think that the heating ducts run from apt to apt?

If your apartment has its own heater and ducting it is not that. Don't be paranoid. If somebody asks if you smell cannabis tell them you don't know what that smells like. Then ask them why they do.

btw, that's a pretty crazy ass show if no one has ever seen it, i highly recommend watching it.. it's on the spike channel..

Often within my newer modular home the odors will be non existent outside of the growing chamber due to Carbon scrubbers and Ozone machines .. Strain depending I often can smell the odors when in my yard or driveway ..

Edit : Just wanted to point this out , shitty constructed buildings will never be fully safe and secure like solid built units ..

I used to be able to smell cannabis outside of my door and walking up to it, but as soon as I would come inside my apartment would smell fine. For a while I thought some plants outside must smell similar to cannabis but as fall came and things died, the smell was still there. A couple friends also noticed it but again said that once they step inside the smell is gone. For a while I wondered if my neighbors were growing, but eventually they all moved out and different people moved in. I had to accept that the odor was somehow coming from my garden despite my budroom smelling clean.

I fixed it by upping my carbon filter in the grow room so that the air is cleaned once per 2 minutes rather than once per 6 minutes. I also added a small carbon filter to my livingroom that runs 10 min on, 10 min off, and I added several negative ion generators throughout the apartment (not in the budroom) and a photocatlytic converter near the door.

Odor socks offer a cheap carbon filter solution, work great, but need replaced every six months.

Plus anything in my apartment which moves any air at all gets one of these attached to the intake. I also have a couple air purifiers to capture smoke, and I replaced their foam pre-filters with this. They cost me $8 each and last about 3 months, I do not wash an reuse.

There is just one of those metal heaters that send heated water through it, or however it works. There is one in each room. Its an older building. I just dont get how it cant be smelled in the apt, but walk out, and the smell is there. Open the grow closet, and the smell is there. but the apt doesnt smell. It is as if there is a worm hole connecting the box and the hall way, like.. the only thing I can think of is the odor sinks down to the floor, then it gets out in the hall way where it is cooler, and its able to rise up easier. Then again, it can be smelled down stairs too. Maybe it spreads everywhere from there, or maybe someone else is growing or smoking..

If your grow isn't legal, just go ahead and assume it's your smell and deal with it ASAP. It doesn't really matter why it's happening.
