The tree huggers pretty much slammed the door shut on a lot of young people in the fishing business. But every now and then I see a young guy make it. You can blame it on the educated know it alls , like biologist and, the feds like NOAA. They took a lot of future jobs away from young people.

My advise to you would be don't give up. I am getting ready to take my trade to another part of the world and try to do it again.

Yes and No. Property tax's are low, you don't need air-conditioning or heat. we have a water catchment tank for water. Electric bills in my new house are around 100/130 per month. Two weeks ago gas was 3.99. It's a little higher than Oregon over all probably.

Being a massachusetts resident, I fully agree with him on that.

I have two friends that are fisherman that go to alaska and fish the salmon season, and fish something I can't remember out of washington..

They come back with money and are well fed.

Try doing the same on the east coast that's been over fished for sooooo god damn long.

Can't remember the last time I saw someone actually pull a cod out of Cape Cod.
