oh, and the side effect is that everyone gets insured. we get rid of the millions of bankruptcies and thousands of deaths every year that are unfathomable in any other wealthy nation.
You're still going to have thousands of deaths no matter what you do, unless you find a way to make people immortal that is. Everyone dies, no one is immune to the disease of old age. No one.

do you honestly believe that i meant that no one would die, or that no one would die from an otherwise preventable cause?

my bad, had you confused.
No problem.

raise the cap on SS above the $108k and it is sustainable forever. get everyone into medicare and it is sustainable.

Ok, I haven't heard this before. If we restrict benefits to people making less than 108k/year then it is sustainable, is that what you're saying or am I way off? Maybe that's a reasonable approach. But, do the people making over 108k still have to contribute to the program even though they don't get to participate in the benefits? Elaborate if you would.

Not feeling it on the 'everyone into medicare'. Still not on board with the national healthcare thing. The countries that have it seem to have exorbitantly high rates of taxation, like 70% in some cases. I'm really not cool with giving more than 25% (state, federal, embedded & sales combined) of my income to the government. They should be able to operate on less than that, anything more is due to waste and overreach.

How are they going to stop people from dying in car crashes, airplane crashes, smoking caused lung cancer? all those deaths are preventable too. I really don't think it is the collectives responsibility to pay for other peoples poor choices and random acts of happenstance.
