First timer in NY, south of Albany growing

Aurora Indica
Early Durban
Wreckage
White Widow
The Church
Super Lemon Haze
C99
Sour Cream
Bubba Kush
Durban Poison

Most of these were freebies. I started out with about 50-something plants, then realized how ludicrous that was since I don't even smoke. So even though it was painful, I cut it back to ten adults and ten little guys planted late just to gauge their flowering period here.

I'm growing just on principle--I think these laws are stupid. But once I saw how pretty they were, and the smell...I just fell in love with the experience.

Anyway, they're moving along nicely. The Church (strongly Sativa), Wreckage (strongly Indica), C99, and Durban Poison will be the first to finish. Hope these pictures and strains are helpful for someone with questions about how they'll grow at this latitude.

I am close to you but yet my flowering doesn't look that advance. Although all of my plants are from bagseed. It could be the genetics of the seeds. Anyway good job on your grow!

Thanks. It's the seeds, most of these are early finishing varieties. Last week I chopped anything that wasn't in full flower, and I'll just keep clones of these plants as mothers. That way I'll know what I plant next year will finish.

What did your plants think of the heat we had? Mine really took off.

I thought it might be cool to see how the plants changed in the last 3 1/2 weeks. So here are the August 16 and September 9 pictures. If I did this right, you should be able to scroll right through them.

My plants loved the summer heat. After I topped them, they grew another foot. I guess we lucked out this year. Since this past weekend, there has been a lot of overcast though. Not much rain, just a mist here and there. I checked on them today and they looked awesome. Your sativa looks just like mine.

I know, do you find yourself just standing in the middle of them, taking in the scent and the view? Sometimes I have to shake myself out of it!

The pictures are all tagged with the strain, I don't know if you noticed. I tried to grow a pretty good variety just to see the differences in the strains. I didn't know what to expect.

Iownevery--Yeah, merry christmas to me!

wyte-just the principle, prohibition has always bothered me, I mean really bothered me. I have tried it a couple times and it just made me unfocused, which I'm not real crazy about. But I might end up using it once in awhile, like if I have trouble falling asleep. Anyway, now I'm hooked. The plants are beautiful, they smell so nice...it's just a great hobby.

Oh, and here's the Super Lemon Haze. There are only 8 days difference between the two pictures, but you can see the change. Sorry, I just love before/after pictures.

It's been about a week. We've had a few rains and it's turned cooler, but they've been fattening up. The Church and one of the Cindy's split at their trunks and were flopping around. I did my best to tie them up, but next year everything is getting LST

I haven't seen any rot yet, although I had some autoflowers develop it in the garden earlier in the summer. No caterpillars either, although I don't expect them to show up for a couple years. I've been pretty good about spraying for bugs throughout the summer, and I started with BT when they started to flower. The bug sprays I used were Neem-based, containing permethrins. I stopped using Neem once they started to flower.

I don't anticipate harvesting anything for another two weeks at least. The Church had critters from July on, but I won't spray it again. It will make it to flower in a couple weeks, and because it seems more susceptible to mites I'm not sure I'll grow this clone again. The Durban Poison and C99 plants should also be ready by the end of the month.
