I say we all need to take plant nutrition into our own hands anyway... This takes companies like Monsanto out of the drivers seat in our lives, because screw that! I want to be master of my own destiny.

Ok so its because of who owns it not the quality of the product?
Because of who now owns it, the quality if the product is going to tank. It also isn't really worth the money to buy bottled organics. Dry ferts are the way to go. Mix your own soil, top dress, make teas. I even make homemade bottled ferts for a fraction of what the store bought stuff costs.

1/4 cup kelp meal
1/4 cup alfalfa
soaked in water and ran through a blender will probably outperform most of what you will find at the hydro stores. Kelp has micro nutrients and minierals, alfalfa has growth hormones like the stuff in biothrive, plus basic NPK nutrients. Use it by the tbs like any other bottled fert. That and act teas and maybe some high phos quano for flowering is all you need and you can go from there. All the nutrient companies do is take a small amount of dry ferts, soak in water, and sell us a marked up price. Making your own ensures quality and saves money.

^ I disagree with the above statement. Imo it takes more than kelp and alfalfa to grow AAA meds and get a great yield. It cost me $14 to feed per plant with Botanicare pure blend pro line to get 8oz+ dried. 10 gallon pots, 4-5 pots per 1000w DE light depending on strain, 4 week veg. $14 is pennies to the dollar for 8oz of top shelf.

Theres a million ways to do things and most of them work but imo its definitely worth $14 a plant to get great yields and quality. Imo its a lot simpler too, just buy a few bottles and pour them in the rez. Once you tweak the schedule and figure out how much you like using of what it works great. Theres a bunch of stuff in those bottles, plants seem to love it all.

Not trying to offend you, this is just my opinion and personal experience. Like I said million ways to do things and I'm sure your way works good for you. I just definitely thinks worth the money to buy nutes, it really doesn't cost much compared to what they return you and the ease of use. The time it takes to make stuff is worth something too.

This is all of whats in the Botanicare pure blend pro line..

they are on 10$ of nice soil though too .. i think mmjmamma is saying if your soil is TOP notch you can grow GREAT meds with just water , co2 and a/c i have pics somewhere ... but i know your right too pure blend pro is actually pretty badass . if iwas to pic a nute line to run .... hot soil and age old (not organic) teas work for me but i am part of a organic based collective...

Monsanto bought the company a few months back. I try really hard not to put any money in their pockets. But yeah , main reason is who now owns GH.
Scotts/Miracle Grow bought General Hydroponics and yes, some people aren't happy because of Scotts/Miracle Grow's affiliation with Monsanto. GH makes good products and I don't see Scotts changing how the company works. They probably even kept GH's employees and never even shut the doors. Big companies by small companies all the time.

Yea I would agree. Just because they bought the company doesnt mean they will change the formula. Just means they want to make the profits from that company.

I don't know. Me personally I don't care who owns what company. Its all about the effectiveness of the product for me

I do!!! If I have the opportunity to improve my life and not support a co. known to strip more human rights than any other on the globe...:fire: then ya, I will choose that path! A cloud of ignorance is not for me.. :joint::D

If monsanto bought botanicare (what I use) I wouldn't switch nutrients because of this. Throw away years of dialing in and healthy great yielding plants because of the owner of the company? I don't think so. All that matters to me is what goes in the bottle, not what happens outside of it. Monsanto is going to flourish whether you support them or not, they are too big to shut down

When I learned about advanced back in the day I converted as soon as possible and was doing pretty damn good.
Then left gh years later for something more professional...
For me learning and moving forward as a person or business is key to life.

Although my old saying was.."stay stupid" who cares what people say if your getting 2+ lbs per light.

apologies, I will quit talking shit, your as right as I am..

Scotts Miracle grow is owned by Monsanto. Just one of the many child companies they own.

Best nutrient line in the whole wide world growing all around us for practically free, while not supporting the slow, methodical poisoning of the earth in the process. Sounds like the common sense approach to me, but then when I look around, "common sense" is the biggest oxymoron out there, because it sure as hell ain't common. I mean, some replies right here in this thread case in point....screw the environment and everybody in it! At least my grow is dialed in bitches. OK.
