Nutrients

Hi everybody,

I've got a big problem.....maybe it isn't i dunno.....

I used a soil that is 8-15-8 concentrate.....
although I mixed only a little bit of it, with some pretty unconcentrated soil.... 0.3 - 0.5 - 0.3 ...

And on top of that...TODAY i watered it with a liquid nutrient that is 10-15-10......

From what I've been reading here the first number must be highest.....

whats gonna happen to my plant??? :(

I should have read more before I did this stuff....booo on me.

Thanks,

Tom

you have a good chance of frying your seedling
just the plain soil you have is more than enough to get started, seriously consider getting it out of there and into an un-nuted soil

I should have mentioned that this is all after I transplaneted my plant into new soil...she is already 9 inches tall..looks vvery good and green.....

does your answer still apply?

not as much, since this is a more mature plant
your mix still sounds a bit 'hot' though, too much nute for the soil
you will see in the next day or 2, update this thread if you're inclined, on how this turns out

9 inch tall it will probably be ok if the tips of the leaves are white you should flush the pot with plain water, like the full volume of the pot, and let her go.
pre-fertilized soil can usually use a small boost so use less than a full strength dose, start with 1/4 then 1/2 then 3/4 then full or something like that. With soil you should water with nutrients two times, then water with plain water two times, and pH is best kept between 5.5 and 7. If ur soil has dolomite lime in it then you don't need to worry about pH at all because it acts as a buffer.

I'll keep an eye on the leaves....the leaves look nice a green....though the very bottom ones are turning yellow....but i hear thats normal......

the edges of the leaves actually....the rippled parts...are slightly brighter it seems than the rest of the leaf.....but maybe thats just the reflection of light?..i dunno...will keep an eye....thanks to you too!

that is something you should watch very carefully, it it's going to burn, the edges and the tips are where it will show

ok if it gets any worse, i will flush it with plain old water and pray to the gods..... will the plant repair itself if that is the case?

it probably won't be a huge deal because you're watching and ready to take action
leaves will not repair themselves exactly, but will continue to grow
if that's your only problem, it will be unnoticeable after a few weeks of recovery

The fertilizer you have used sounds like a bloom fertilizer, with a little more N than you want to have when you are flowering.

The problem I have run across trying to flush pre-nuted soil is that when you try to flush, it releases more nutes from the soil. So I agree with whoever it was that said never use soil with nutes. That way you have a lot more control over how much you are feeding your plants.
