you needa cure after you hang dry because you gotta get the moisture out of the center of the bud also. Just hang drying and smoking will leave you with a severe earth tasting smoke. Happy smoking

Yeah, It gives off a really green taste like your smoking stink weed or something unless you cure it out good.... Tobacco is the same way if you dont cure it....

Ive been told to cure it in like mason jars and to open the mason jars up at least 3 times a day for 10 minutes at a time and make sure to seal it tightly back. Ive also heard some people using brown paper bags ... Put it in the bag and roll the bag up and it helps cure it without drying it too fast.... I would like to use the jar method myself though... Ive heard about 5 days and you can start smoking it but I think I want to cure for at least a month... Ive heard it smokes better and taste really good

Curing allows the chlorophyll in the plant material to break down. This has to be done or it's going to be harsh smoke and it'll smell like hay. Not to mention the bud cannot reach it's full potential high without curing. The drying process can be a little tricky depending on humidity, temperature, air flow, bud density and bud size. I live in the desert so I wouldn't hang it as long as say... someone in Florida or Washington state. I usually check the stems to see if they snap rather than bend. That's the cue to get those suckers into a jar.

So all u do is put it in a jar and open the jar a few times a day ?
i open my jars once a day. If there's a lot in the jar, I leave it open for like an hour. If its just a lil bit, I'll only leave it open for a minute or so. Do that for a few days, to a week. Its cool to smoke after that, but the longer you let it sit the better it'll be.

Yepp... Heard you open it up 3 to 4 times a day for 10 to 20 minutes each time you open it.... You need to hang to dry first though usually for 5 days or until limb snaps instead of bend....

yeah thats another important part you need to get a feel for. How long to dry before you cure. If it's still too wet you risk mold. If you dry too long, taste will suffer.

You only need to cure if you used too much ferts, or you used MGro. Proof, im at this moment smoking sativa bagseed bud that's just been hung and dried. I used very little ferts in 30% perlite and nutural soil. Flushed twice then molasses for last mo, flushed again and hung. She's got a nice hint of sweet but extremly smooth and potent.

Also...No, curing does not improve thc, what's there when pulled is it.

I let my buds hang dry for 7 days then cure it in mason jars for 3-5 weeks. I open my jars once a day for around 10 minutes or so. I don't wait for the stems to snap though before curing. I wait for them to be just before the stage of them snapping then I start curing.

I aree with grannybonger. I just harvested 3 - 4 days ago... I haven't cured. My weed tastes pretty damn great. I've been growing, drying, curing forever... and never had good tasting weed. This time, I ordered seeds online. I used weak ferts the last week... and flushed with florakleen for 3 days (twice a day). For the first time, my weed is flavorful and clean tasting. This is without curing. I imagine after another day drying and a week curing I'll have some even more awsome bud, but... its already pretty damn awsome without a cure. Also, curing does not improve thc as stated. What's there is there when its harvested.

Fat dense nugs will feel dry on the outside, but still be moist inside. Yes they are smokable at this point

but wont grind up right or burn as well or taste as good.

To cure bud is just to seal it up air tight so that the inner moister SLOWLY will spread into the parts that were

dry and re-moisten them. This is when you should open your jar and let the outside get dry to the touch again

then seal it up and wait for it to get moist or more moist than it was. Continue this process and

after just a week or so your bud will start to smell like bud and get its distinct taste and smell.

Curing is a necessary part of the process, something which is fast being forgotten in ""commercial"" weed terms.

Dont get in a rush with your hard work and let it cure up right, you wont regret it.
