Not sure about using humidifier

I am about to start flowering 9 plants in a week or so and I want to use my humidifier in my grow room. I'm just not sure whether it will cause any damage to my hps bulbs because I removed the plastic covers. So can I use it or will my bulbs crack and break ? I won't try using it until I get some assurance first so all advice and opinions arewelcomed please share.

there really is no benefit from using a humidifier during flowering, they are mostly used in veg to raise the rh levels... in fact, using them in flowering can have some serious negative affects such as bud mold along with some other bad things..
a lot of people like to use a dehumidifier in flowering to get the rh as low as possible to avoid any such problems asscociated with higher rh..

In direct answer to your question, I have never experienced a bulb breaking because of humidity. News to me.

If a bulb is super hot and water comes in contact I can see the concern...but humidity at a level optimal to a plant? Haven't seen/heard of it.

I guess my question would be....what humidity percentage are you looking for? If it's pretty low (winter does that) then by all means...just make sure it doesn't get too high.

In the mean time, have you seen this post? I could use some suggestions myself.

In flowering, the lower the humidity, the better. You should be using a de-humidifier. Under 35% is good. 22% or less is desirable.

ur right u want ur humidity around 40-50% so if its like under 30 put a humidifier in their if its not under 30 its not a big deal but u can still put it in their n just monitor ur RH so it doesnt go over 50-55 and so it doesnt go under 30

I would love under 30 in the flowering stage, that is awesome. Why mess up great flowering RH with a humidifier? The lower the RH in "flowering," the more resin production.

O.K. thanks no humidifier then. Its like 40°-55°F everyday where I'm at so humidity should be about 15 % or lower I'm guessing. But can I spray them a once in a while just in case ?

I'm not a fan of spraying my plants. Also, a warning, spraying with the lights on can cause the bulb to explode if water gets on it. Also, the little droplets can burn your plants with the lights on. So, if you do spray, do it with the lights off and allow to dry.

40 to 55 degrees, or you mean humidity is 40 to 55 percent? 40-55 degrees would be too cold for your plants.

Shoot for the lowest humidity possible, by whatever means are at your disposal. 40-55 percent relative humidity is perfect for vegetative stage. Flowering is "the lower, the better." It will "work" at 40-55% with good airflow. Buds are a mold magnet.

I mean its 40 - 50 degrees outside but I just checked the news and its actually 33° and this affects my plants because grow area is in a separate part of my apt that's not insulated. Its really a utility closet I have access to. So my grow area gets pretty cold even with the heater and lights that's another reason I wanted the humidifier to raise the temperatures.

i dont go under 35% during flowering usually it goes up and down 35-50 and when lights go out i stick a dehumidifier in there to keep it below 50%.. and u should see my buds they got a shit load of resin..people like u blow that shit out of proportion

a humidifier will lower ur temp a few degrees most likely..if u stick a dehumidifier in there and it will probably raise the temp..not the humidity the temp

Denile is more than a river in Egypt. Lower humidity causes plants to produce more resin to keep itself from drying out. If you're getting a lot of resin now, lowering the humidity further will increase the resin even more.

so if it says have it at 40-50 during flowering lower it to 35 or 30 if u go lower u could cause other problems like stunt growth and lower yields

id say 30-40 during flowering would be perfect just so u dont cause other problems

how did everyone get on this humidity topic ? The question was will the steam damage my lights that's it. I know about low humidity increasing trichs. My buds are completely covered with them. why's everyone answering a question no one asked ?
