So I have 32 Northern Light clones(started off with 80) that I have had outside since may 25th. I live in Michigan and we had some abnormally cold weather late this year. They are all about 2.5 to 3 feet tall, this is my first grow so any input is welcome. When do you guys think I can harvest and how much do you think I should get, they have all gotten only 2 tablespoons of bloodmeal a piece and are all looking good. Is there any organic ferts that you guys would suggest during the flowering stage

i think they look good, but they really have no room to stretch, you might wanna try using another method to protect your plants, i use fishing line, i got mine in the woods with all kinds of little varmints, and deer, etc. i put about 8 wraps around the area spacing the line maybe 4 inches or so and made kinda an invisible fence it works great, try pissing around your plot too, give room to grow and stretch its branches, and as far as how much you will get it's hard to tell could be under/over pound, or i've heard some can get 2-5 pounds per plant guess you gotta wait n c, good luck though the plants look good can't wait to see an update when they get bigger.

oh believe me I know that the cages restrict them, some have bigger cages then others and there not being restricted, but I have tried every other method of defense including the home remedies with garlic, human piss, hair, liquid fence, fishing line, and the ONLY thing that worked for me was actual fence. I have over 150 feet of fence out at my 2 plots

in michigan? you will most likely be harvesting the same time me and everyone els growing up here does, the morning after they finally succumb to frost. usually thats late september early october, they will survive the first few light frosts no problem, but when you get 2 or more nights in a row below 27 degrees, they are done for, leaves shrivel and the lower stalk gets slimy bark, but the buds are usally untouched and you would never know thats how they died. i cross my fingers for an indian summer every year, maybe we will get lucky eh?

Yeah that Indian summer would be a nice treat for all of us northerners. Now that I know about when I will harvest anybody have any ideas on how much I'll harvest. Thanks for the info though beaner

an average 4-5 foot plant of decent maturity could yield 3-4 ounces, thought there are a lot of factors like the strain, and bushyness plays a big role, if by fall your plant has lost half it's leaves from under nitrification (is that a word?)then yeah you could get less than an ounce from an average plant, i had a 5-6 footer one year get discovered by kids, who picked every single leaf off it, after i transplanted it and let it grow i ended up with one tiny top cola that weighed about 7 grams dry...

lets see, an early frost will definatly kill your yields, 3 years back i got only half an lb from 9 very bushy 5-6 footers, because of early frost, i was predicting a quap per plant till a freek two day frost in early september killed them.

it's best not to figure that out till after your done with trimming i have found, soooo many variables, and the more you expect the more you get let down when say a ripper takes all your plants 2 days before you planned to harvest. hell if i woulda calculated my yeilds 2-3 months ago ida said 20 pounds, im glad i wasn't counting on it because now i think the most ill be able to pull is one pound, maybe two if i have an amazing rest of the season.

Yeah, I read that thread about how your plants got jacked and it broke my heart but it made me realize to hope for the best, but to expect the worst. But I gotta admit that I really hope it comes through.
Doesn't Northern Lights flower in normally 45 days or so , isn't that pretty short compared to other strains? Does the cold play the biggest factor of when they'll be done or is it the light timing. Thanks again

well i would say more like 56 days, but i have never grown the real northern lights, just the old nirvana version so i could be wrong about that.

however that is a figure made for idoor growing, that is 45 days of flowering at 12 hours light and 12 hours dark, im not sure but id say were getting about 16 hours of daylight right now, less if your closer to the eqator, and when they start to flower it should be around 14-15 hours. this alone will change that flowering time but also that time really means nothing when judging outdoor maturing because it isn't about how long it takes a plant to bud outdoors(most indica sativa hybrids flower in 6-8 weeks) but when they start to bud outdoors, you could have a plant start flowering in late july, bud for 9 weeks, and still finish before a plant that started flowering in late august and only took 6 weeks.

and yes getting jacked sucks, it wasn't the first time and wont be the last im sure, as long as you plant in small groups you will minimize the loss, im just lucky i still have enough to play around with after the cops got done with them. and not to blame the cops for everything, this drought killed many of my plants, as i am just giving up on all but my roadtrips, i just don't have the phisical compasity to stay out in the swamp all day long in the heat and humidity, every week to take care of all of them, nor do i have a single source of water except for what i can haul in on my back.

Wow, you just made me think so differently about flowering times and how it really doesn't matter for outdoors. Thanks soo much for the help beaner, you are truly a horticulturist.
