How many people in Northern California damaged there outdoor crop due to the heat wave? It was hitting 110-115f in some parts even SF was 106 this weekend. Luckily I fed mine silica right when it hit so my plants didn't get affected but a buddy of mine damn near lost his whole crop everything got burned. Just curious to see how many people the heat wave affected?

Hey bro I'm in Santa Rosa and it was brutal, I think I was pretty lucky as I busted out the screen shade material and temped it over my ladies. That sucks! But I'm glad it's over, so weird it was almost 115 and today cloudy with a few rain drops. Heard it's broken up Harvey cells making their way up the coast. Good luck man!

Mine have been on rhino skin which is silica for a month, I wonder if that's why mine didn't show much heat stress.

My buddy was watering twice a day and his plants still got fried
I just left mine in its normal sunny spot and didn't do anything except feed it silica and it turned out fine! Im sure the silica did its job I'm in the east Bay Area and we also had a few rain drops here as well

So he's in pots .....pots that are far to small
In Martinez CA and my plants are in 7 gal smart pots up on a picnic table getting full sun 8 hrs a day. I too gave them silica in anticipation of the heat. First day of heat spell it was 113, I left them out that day giving them a good soaking in the morning. They did not show any visual signs of stress, however they smelled way more pungent than they usually do and I surmised this this was because the heat was cooking and degrading my thc so I moved them into the shade with some fans for the next 2 days. It seemed to me that the buds did not change or mature at all for the 2 days they were in the shade. I am sure glad I learned about silica on this site because I am convinced it saved my plants from damage. My friend has her plants in the ground where the roots stay much cooler than in pots and they only get 1/3 of the full sun that mine do, she did not use silica and she came very close to losing them all and had lots of leaf burning. Thank you to this site for teaching me about it! Now that the heat wave is over I notice the humidity has gone up really high which I also learned here can slow down trichome production ( maybe that magical silica can fix that too ) I hope so. All I did was water mine there in 100 gallon pots did not hurt theme at all there all growing nice

Ya mine are in the ground and they made it just fine, I just happen to be using rhino skin for about the last month which has the silica in it. I was mainly using it for the stalk strengthening, but hear it can help with drought, pests and I couple other things too. But I just gave water when it was super hot tho, didn't think feeding feet was a good idea when so hot, as for If having the silica helped, I have no way of knowing. I think just having an overall healthy, pest and disease free plant is all the protection needed, but hey can't hurt either.

I grow mine outdoors in 5 gallon DWC buckets. The plants loved it, only thing was I had to make sure the buckets were full of water. I literally filled the buckets twice a day during that heat wave.
