They don't need alot of water at this time, we are at the same spot, mine are 6 days old today. I add a few drips to the edge of the cube 1 time a day(I am using stg cubes), by the time I water again, the cube is fairly dry. I started off 3 times a day, and was instructed to back off a bit for the first couple of weeks. I moved my light to within 8" this morning and they are turning a mean shade of green :P

Peace

I like water up, not water down, because for some reason my seedlings often suffer from damping off disease, which kills them really horribly and quickly. From what I've read it's a fungus that develops if the seedling is too damp around the surface of the cube. So by watering up, I can "fill" the cube halfway from the bottom, where the root is growing, but not the top of the cube, where the damping off can occur.

So dip your cube in water until is soaks up a bit, and you're done. Also, make sure there a little air movement around the cube, like a small fan blowing in the general direction of the seedling, but not enough to blow her over. :)

Thanks for the responses guys.....

I did water her earlier, i stuck with my gut and just dipped it into a tupperware full of ph'ed water til it felt 50-60% full. As for circulation, there is a window right next to the closet and i have a 6in clip fan blowing air from the window into the closet. I also have a box fan blowing directly at the plant on the 2nd setting maybe 4 ft away.

Only reason i asked is because i plan on going to the end in just rockwool, has anybody done this? I plan on sticking it on top of a rockwool slab once roots break thru the bottom of the 4x4. I bought the black and white vinyl from the grow shop so i can place it over the top of the tray it will be in so i wont let the lights hit the roots. The reason i asked about watering is, i heard rockwool builds up nutrients and salts quickly. I was wondering because i would like to flush on a regular but did not want to risk killing the flower. Anywho you guys are great i really do appreciate the gestures!

Also on a side note, will the Thrive Alive that i added hurt it? its a 1-1-1 and i believe i added a little under what was needed for a gallon. Also should i do this on an alternating watering schedule or every time as its not that much...?

Well its been 11 days since i put her in rockwool, i have about 3 roots coming out of the bottom of the 4x4. I have brown spots on the 2 leaves and its lime green in color. I watered again today with just water 3rd time since putting it in rockwool) abd when i got back from worktonight it finally grew some! It has not moved in 3 days, the leaves have gotten bigger over this time but stilb only 2...So i did a quick search on the site and ran across a post saying brown spots are caused by overwatering (which i have ruled out seeing as i have only watered 3 times and today before i did water the rockwool felt empty...which was oddbecause i watered her 2 days prior) Anywho i myself was thinking maybe it just needs food (nitrogen??) Or maybe the spots came from chlorine in the tap water (was rushing before work.).

Hey all, this is my virgin voyage and i would like some opinions please. I planted my seed in a rockwool cube 11/06 (2 days ago) and last night it was coming thru the plug (exciting to see!). My question is if it is normal for it to grow thru "folded"? Its like the seed got caught in there somewhere and is being held in place while the root is growing so it looks like a loop coming thru. NORMAL or do i need to do surgery?
I have "helped" sprouts out of a seed hull that was binding them up without any bad results... your milage may vary.

Edit: I just saw your pics... different issue. Yours are fine. No worries.

even the brown spots on the first pic are normal? you have to blow it up to see them....well the leaves grew in 8hrs since i was at work so i guess ill wait it out. I put 2 more 23w cfls on her before work to see if that helped, my next step would have been to introduce food...thanks for the response
