I keep trying and nothing is working ,i water the pot throughly the day before then put the light on overnight to heat the soil, whilst doing this i germinate the seed in the paper towl thats cool the root comes out , then i plant it in my potted soil about 1/4 inch deep sprinkle some soil over the top and get some water on it using mist spraying bottle (a tiny bit to settle the soil), put my 600 watt Grolux light on about 1 and half foot aboth , put some plastic wrap over the top to keep the moisture in and the seeds arn't sprouting , it may be the soil it is a repotting soil but it looks like a good mix and have nutrients. I tbh don't know what i am doing wrong and the soil feel hot , maybe too hot ? so can't be the temperature but then again the light isn't actually as near as some people like to put there lights to the pot. I def didn't overwater and i am sure i haven't underwatered.

what is going on need some help

Cheers lads

Hey Yatzii, welcome to RUI!

Follow the link at the bottom of this post.

Index: Propagation

Alphabetical: Germination

.

Once you go over the pictorial if you want to germinate your seeds with this method then post in the Grow Lab thread and I'll go over germination with you. Get the supplies together, be sure to get distilled water - you're having trouble somewhere and we have to eliminate all variables. Pro Mix, Scotts - only peat moss soil and no nutrients added.

personally I wouldn't have the 600watt light a foot an half above, sounds quite close. My 600watt HPS is about 3 foot above my plants an they are sprouting just fine. Maybe not bother with the plastic wrap over the top as it does sound a little bit like your cooking the seeds.

Just my 2 cents. Good luck dude!

Your 600w light is probably cooking the seed.

You want to take as much care early on as possible.

I personally use

24w T5 6400k for around 10days
200w ECO CFL for around another 10-15days
and then put them under my 600w which is in a cooltube with and RVK inline duct fan removing all the heat from it.

You should get yourself a little desk lamp with a small 23w house CFL 6400k if you can get one. Just use this until the seedling has its first serated leaves and then you should be ok to put it under your 600w with it around 3ft above the top of the seedling.

Make sure you move the air using an oscilating fan between the lamp and the top of the seedlings so that the heat isnt too bad for them.

What kind of setup do you have?

Tent?
Closet?
Etc

Are you ventilating the grow room? As you could be reaching temps in a closed closet of around 45C if you arent exhausting that hot air out.

Been Growing nearly organic for 2years...
First off, I never cover my soil, you might be rotting the seed with too much moisture. I would uncover and allow a little more time before watering.
What I do, I pour my soil and other stuff into the pot, I water slowly until I see water coming out bottom fairly decently. Then I allow to drain excess. I then plant my (I use clones) into soil. I never mist in the first few weeks of growth, some say mist your clones, I never do. I keep my clones 77 and works fine. Thats beside my point. Planting a seed is like planting a clone, you cannot dropwn it because it immediately needs oxygen which you will remove if too wet.
Try this, dont germinate, just poke a hole and drop in and cover, water thourouly then water when top starts to dry completly out. (maybe a little more often until seedling comes up.

Try raising that light like mentioned above, good advice, mines about 2'-3 and I have a 1,000
Hope that helps more.

Seriously guys I can't tell you how much i appreciate all your advice its amazing will try + rep you all just stick around for a alittle longer will give my findings:

OK so i dug up the seed the root has shrivled back into the seed. thats all i found lol , so i am guessing i cooked it seeing as the soil was so hot it felt hot on my own skin like nearly burning. plastic top is a no go so going to try again tonight going to rewater nicely let the top layer dry abit in the light and retry again I don't think i will need to move the light the heat isn't hot at all on my skin down near the pot i am guessing i just made it way to humid in the pot by not letting fresh air get in instead was just creating a hot pot. Any more advice is great , my setup is weak i am a noob i am doing it in my treehouse , its nice and warm inside but not too warm so i think thats ok and the light is good fresh air comes through the slight gap in the door.

I just want some weed hehe , dam dealers over here only give shit hash which is filled with petrol , missing bud so much :(

2 seeds down , 8 more to go , i am not giving up

If i germinate in the pot i will be realy paranoid about watering if it needed before the seedling sprouts so afraid of drowning it , trying to go for the water throughly first then pot and hope its sprouts before it need watering again , this way its a relief!

So you have a 600 watt light in a tree house growing weed? I would love to see a pic of that! So how do you get power to the light? A long-ass extension cord?

I also would recommend a CFL for seedlings for a while before you hit them with the big stuff. When you start the 600 watt light I would recommend at least 3 feet of space when they are that young.

I have a cable run from the wash house it goes under the roof tiles round the back off a wall and round the back off the garden so pretty much is a long extension cord but its good because its unseen run up a tree and into the side window
