Put a good layer of sand or gnatmix.

If you can block the soil, you can cutoff their life cycle . If its thrips anyways.

I dont know much about the other bugs

. Good luck bud

Hey everyone! About 1 week into my first grow and tonight I noticed one of my plants leaves looks like this. Would this be from gnats?

Thanks for any help. I’m hoping it isn’t bad.
Def looks like some kind of bug bit it, unless u cld have nicked the leaf movin it...get more perlite in ur soil wen u transplant it like 40percent...thatll help w bugs too (proper drainage). Neem oil keeps most bugs off and its cheap.

Also ur soil looks like its pretty wet, make sure u let it dry out a lil b4 waterings...usually less waters much better than too much

That pic was taken right after I watered it. I will water it less and see how that goes. I know that bugs also like the moist top soil

no, heat can't do that. it looks like mechanical damage to me, like you had it pinched between the pot and the wall, or the pot next to it.
gnats don't eat your plants, they're harmless once they're flying. the problem with gnats is that the maggots eat roots. if you get them bad enough, they can seriously damage your root system, but they'll never eat a leaf.
ipc is integrated pest control. get some insect frass, and some silica, and use both when you water. the silica makes thicker cell walls that are harder for the bugs to penetrate, and the insect frass triggers the plants own immune system, like giving them an insect vacination.

It wasn’t pinched between anything but I was smelling them and rubbed the leaf with my fingers. I doubt I did that though.

Wow it’s that sensitive? If it’s that will it hinder the growth?
It can. DO NOT touch your plants at that early a stage. Leave it the hell alone. They're very fragile until they get well established.

The number one cause of death for beginners is over thinking and over handling the plant. It is, quite literally, a weed. It will grow just fine without you rubbing on it.

I learned real quick that you can easily "love your plants to death"

No it wont hurt its growth and u can touch the plant if necessary, its just at this point, its not necessary, as ur not toppin or training and i def wldnt rubbem between fingers. What hes sayin is keep it simple. Be patient. And if ur not sure about doin somthn, ask on here first and of course do research on ur own too. Peace

1200w? For seedlings??? Seems like overkill... did u get the light just for that?
Im not an led man, not yet, but 1200w is way more than u need for seedling. I personally prefer to keep it simple..i like t5 for seedlings, and smaller veg. And if ur a beginner, i recommend the hell out of em... whats ur plan for em, do u got alot of space.. limitations? How big an area will u have for flower...if u lemme in on ur plan a lil, id b happy to give u any pointers.. im not the guy for led advice, but anything else, i can help or at least point u to someone reliable who can..

Well the light wasn’t initially meant for the seedlings but that’s it’s job for now. It was purchased for veg and flowering. This one pulls about 235w from the wall. For now this is more than they need, but I am doing some research to add some Quantum Board LEDs to my current setup. I am working in a 4x4 tent and currently have 6 plants going. I’m not sure if they are female or male so I’m guessing at least some will be males. Started them out in the damp paper towel (which they quickly grew out of) then into solo cups now (with holes drilled on the bottoms) they have grown really fast in the last week and that is pretty exciting. They all look great so when I saw that one leaf I did freak out a bit. They are currently in Fox Farms soil with about 30-40% perlight. The tent has a 6” and 4” intake with a 6” exhaust with a 440 cfm fan on medium. I have the carbon filter also. I have one tower fan and 2 clip on fans so far. I the tent is in an outdoor shed which is uninsulated but it’ll be insulated soon. I also have another 4x4 waiting to go but I am waiting to start that one until I insulate the shed. I know I have 2 Jack Frost’s (which are doing the best) and the other 4 are unknown.

Lol sorry for the novel! As you can tell it’s exciting
