Noob question don't laugh

Ok simple question that I haven't found a direct answer for after extensive searches on this sight and on google...

Can I use hyponex potting soil as a medium? without mixing anything, and without doing anything to it. (hyponex is a brand name)

Im sure you can use what ever soil you want....BUT I have never heard of it...I would reccomend Fox Farm...that seems to be the overall trend....and as to the yellowing leaves... looks like a nute burn...can you give some stats on what the ph of your soil...the nutes your using? heop everything works out for you

yeah but i wouldn't use just that you gotta add some perlight some sand some worm casting maybe some lime.... but yes you could use straight soil but you need to add nutes after two weeks and thats also a reason for the yellowing leaves lack of nutes!

Yea you can use that brand but if you amend it you will have a health-er plant and better harvest.

Second, Hyponex All Purpose Potting Soil and Green Charm resulted in poor plant growth. Both of these media contain sedge peat, a fine particle material that tests to a low porosity. There simply isn't enough space within these media for the water and air that plant roots need to grow successfully.

no, not by itself, it has horrible drainage issues. trust me, i made that mistake when i was new.

ok cool thanks, so flush the plant, and will the seeds I planted even sprout out of hyponex? or should I just germinate new seeds and get different soil? I'm sure I have more around the house/shed.

Id go with miracle grow over the hyponex. Im using hyponex right now and it has a lot a bark in it. Hell remember, you get what you pay for. I got a 20quart bag for like $2.50 thats cheap. My first grow I used miracle grow and I had NO problems

they will still sprout and grow and all that, but its got those drainage issues that make watering and knowing when to and that really hard.the bottom soil wont get dry and you end up overwatering or underwatering trying to keep the wet/dry cycles cannabis roots need. i'd dig them seeds out if anything, not start new ones. my hyponex soil didnt have any bark in it, does yours? the guy above me said his did. you should mix like 1/4 to 1/3 of pearlite into the hyponex and see if it works better for you, it should be fine. If you get miracle grow instead do the same, I said not by itself, lol, not that you cant use it at all.

have you seen a hempy bucket? i grow in nothing but perlite , i get it from walmart for $7 and a bag fills a 3 gallon bucket perfect(i get plastic mop buckets from walmart there $2).i don't know why any one is still fighting with soil this is so easy and cheap and you can use smaller buckets but still have a bigger yield.its a cross between hydro and soil its suppose to mimic your plants roots hitting ground water. if your interested i'll tell you how i do them.

If you decide to get fox farm ocean forest you will NOT need to use any fertilizer for growth whatsoever during vegetation stage!! I don't care that fox farm sells fertilizer for growing. That doesn't mean you also have to use it. That soil has enough nutrients to get you through veg. All you will need is a bottle of Flower Power from Blue mountain organics & a bottle of unsulphured molasses from the supermarket. With using a simple feeding schedule & always make sure your water is either distilled or chlorine free your buds at harvest will be 100% organic & delicious after slow dried for a week & will even taste more yummy as it cures. When growing 100% organic (soil & ferts together) you wont even need to flush. Just feed water with no organic nutes for the last 10days before harvest & then chop. More than likely you will never have ph issues. I don't own a ph meter or test kit & honestly I don't ever plan to for soil growing. Don't know if you have a dollar tree store by you. I was at one yesterday & picked up a nice 2.5 gallon black bucket (made in usa) for $1.00 ofcourse. The rim around the edge is wide enough for me to modify with eyelets for lst'ing. I'm a soil grower & i was going to try DWC next but I'm going with hempy instead. If the hempy bucket works out then I just may become a hempy grower for life

nice find on the bucket i will go look in the morning.if you have grown in soil before you will never want to ever again after your first hempy bucket.also some one just told me you can use Turface gamesaver instead of perlite its like $10 for a 50 pound bag john deere dealers sell it and maybe some landscaping type places its used to dry baseball and football fields..the 10 plants in my pic are under a 400w mh just veggin i going to clone them before i bud them just waiting on the clonex and jump start to get here.
