nutes every watering during flowering?
Yes, that is what I did and I harvested the top buds this morning, 92.4 grams wet with one 65 watt cfl and 32 watt T9 so 97 watts of light

There are a lot of folks that disagree with me on several things but my results are proof that my style of growing works and this after how many times I tried to kill her with experiments :bigjoint:

More info and pics in my journal

Congrats Riddle. :) How much do you have left to harvest, or are you going to go the reveg route and try and get another grow out of it?

Good deal. Since she's already well established and healthy are you planning to FIM here or use any of the other topping techniques when you reveg her? Will be interesting to see how big she gets on the second grow now that you can apply all your hard won knowledge.

My own grow is probably going to end up being a bit bigger then I had originally planned on. I was going to start flowering yesterday, but HTG supply seems to have had a backlog on 600w ballasts and my new flowering light won't be here until sometime towards the end of next week. They were nice enough to throw in a free 600w MH bulb for the wait, but the extra week of vegging is going to translate into an extra 9-12" worth of height by harvest time. I could start flowering with the 400w now I suppose, but the idea of growing almost 7 ft tall plants sort of appeals to me. :)

Btw, how do you train a plant to grow back upwards after it's developed sideways? My short plant did a 90 degree turn at about the 7" mark and grew straight out towards the side of the pot for about 5 inches and is only now starting to grow upwards again. It's actually more like the main stalk split in thirds and threw a new stalk out in each direction (I guess I got a pre-FIM'd clone). I'm a little worried that without some help the new "sub" stalks will have trouble supporting their own weight once they're 3-4 weeks into flowering . Thing looks like a small bush/shrub, not an MJ plant. :)

If she re-vegs I would most likely just let her go and see what she does

as for training I would think you could LST it back to where you want it???

I got some nutes for flowering, called "African Violet" made by SCHULTZ its 8-14-9 what I am using now is 24-8-16

this gives me a decrease in N and a boost in P(phosphate)

I know I got to ween off just like I weend on..........do I take it down to NIL, then start over working up with the bloom nutes?

Do I need to be introducing the phosphor before the light change or can it be done at the same time?

I would switch to bloom nutes at the first feeding after light change (12/12), but I would also mix em with veg nutes for the first feeding, that's just me, I'm feeding matildas bottom this morning and have mixed DynaGro Bloom with Jack's All Purpose (veg) I don't do this every feeding more like every 3rd feed, hope that helps

i know this may have already been covered.. so forgive me

why do u add veg nutes during flower..?
i believe that adding N during flower is not a good idea.
my very first grow i didnt stop adding N and my plant stayed bright green the whole way thru.. i didnt do a proper flush or anything.

my second grow i had read a little more had better results growing.. so during flower there was no N except what was left in the soil and the small bit in the nutes .. by the end of harvest/curing i smoked some and tasted a bigggg difference.. it seems like the plant that i flushed the nutes out and that had no chlorophyll in the leaves tasted wayy better.. they didnt taste green or chemically like my buds before..

some people make the argument that nuting until the end makes product better.. but i believe different in that during the flush(last 2 weeks) the plant will use up its reserves to finish it will need no added nutes and will finish up a little faster than if it was still loaded with nitrogen. even if the product was to be lil better.. i love the smell of un chemmed weed.. or the taste.. i love actually being able to taste..(that grow had blue cheese in it, tasted like berries for real) so i make sure i flush properly .

What is a proper flush???

Plant is not a toilet and there is no way to flush things out of the plant, you can flush things out of the medium but not the plant.

IMO your 1st grow was proper keep em green and don't flush, my guess is that if they tasted bad you a) did not wait till they were done or b) did not cure them propery?

everyone has thier own opinion and way of doing things, most once they get something that works or satisfies will stick with it, that is just simple human nature

but as to the why of veg nutes during flowering, simple answer is to keep em green so they will perform well and do the things mother nature intends (and here is the fun part) during the fall. If you keep your garden at a fall like condition and keep the plant green it will just keep growing and growing and growing (not forever sure) but for longer than the breeders proclaim and the buds will just keep gettin bigger.

When you leech the nutes out of the leaves by starvin the plant you basically say I only want my buds this big then you can stop because that is what happens. Folks justify it with stuff like well that is what happens at harvest time , they die. Which is true in the real world, but in my garden they can be little energizer bunnies and just keep going and going. Most folks want to smoke and harvest early anyway, no patience, can't wait??? for me 15, 16 weeks to harvest is nothing, I don't mind waiting.

And yes this was covered, perhaps worded a bit differently but I have explained it

a proper flush for the plant.. yes i meant the soil..it flushes all the nutes out of the soil in the last weeks of flowering so the flowers have nothing to feed on.. using there own reserves to survive.. by this time we harvest buds that have no chem taste, harsher smoke.. yes the cure may fix some.. but in my experience the taste is remarkebly different.. even the smell of a N deprived bud.. to a leafy green bud is different.when u smoke u are burning the plant material and whatever moisture didnt evaporate. .. i do flush .. for flavor/smell.. not impatience but extra N does make u flowere longer, and i cant wait for my harvest to finish using up nutes cuz i need my smoke.. without it i am not me.. i was running an sog on 3week harvest cant wait .. gotta get em in get em out.. the way i see it
during winter, there is not enough light or water for photosynthesis. The trees will rest, and live off the food they stored during the summer. They begin to shut down their food-making factories. The green chlorophyll disappears from the leaves. As the bright green fades away, we begin to see yellow and orange colors. Small amounts of these colors have been in the leaves all along. We just can't see them in the summer, because they are covered up by the green chlorophyll.
this iswhat i am trying to re-enact.

so more N in flower gives you longer flowering time? maybe thats why my bubbas arent as far along in amber trichs cause they are smaller? so havent used up whats in the soil yet?

Yeah I can't imagine why some one would put a phone number here???

use one of the web apps to call it. Don't remember the site, but I am sure that google will find it for you. You can type out a message and then the site sends it as a text. no way back to you!

In more interesting news, looks like I MIGHT be starting a grow soon. Not sure if it is going to happen but going to start planning anyway. Current plan is 1x400 MH veg area running clones off to the side and prolly 6-8 plants, and a flower area 1x1000 HPS for 6 large plants. I am going to stay on the legal side of this which for me is 18 "immature" plants no larger then 12 inches from the top of the pot or 12 inches across and 6 mature plants any size I damn well feel like. I am looking to favor quality over quantity (tho quantity is good to of course).
Plan to get some clones from a friend, veg them up for a bit with LST to keep them under the size limit, clone them and move them into flower, then repeat. Get a small scale constant harvest going on. Got a space picked out, but its gonna take lots of work first so once/if this gets going ill start a journal and YOU ARE ALL INVITED!

at the moment, what strains do you guys recommend for first time ever grower? looking for reasonably short flower time, quality, not suuuper smelly and great taste without being too tall (wide is okay, overhead is limited)

Thanks guys!
EDIT: going to do it all in soil, probably large, shallow 5 gal pots

you said you didn't like overly smelly plants .. but super skunk is sure easy to grow and gives killer results even with very little knowledge on your first grow... bongsmilie

by the way guys killer thread .. read my way through the whole thing tonight and riddle you have ALOT of the same outlooks on growing that i do .. fuck all the fancy shit .. try it if it sounds interesting .. make your own judgments .. and just because someone tells you the newest 2000 dollar unit/nutrients/grow type/whatever is awesome .. 9 chances out of ten they are just telling you that so they don't feel stupid for forking out all that money in the first place because it is only their second grow. :wall:

i personally am pretty new to this site but i am FAR from a new grower .. i have been a closet grower for many years and just recently got myself into building my own little grow room but i have successfully raised 8 plants indoors successfully on many occasions .. and to tell you all the best advice i can possibly give as far as helping someone out .. LISTEN TO YOUR GIRLS !! they will tell you everything you will ever need to know about them and probably some things you rather you hadn't had found out:)
PEACE !! And Happy Gardening !! :bigjoint:

Glad ya liked it and welcome. A few folks have found it and are now beginning to grow for real, for me that made it worthwhile to share and help.

there are lots that would rather stick with the myths and spend $$$ and have poor results/problems, I don't always get it but I still stick with to each his/her own

Yea about 15 years ago i went through my NooB phase buying all the gimmicks and trying all the so called *tips-n-trix* and i have found out over the years that just like any garden .. if you love your plants they will love you back .. i'm not any huge sea of green grower or someone out to sell my latest super strain to the masses but the one thing i am is .. a dedicated cannabis grower .. i love the whole process and almost anyone i smoke with usually leaves my house pissed off because i don't sell my harvest at all .. me personaly tho ... i just like to help out my fellow grower if i can and i love to DIY just about anything i can when it comes to growing ... your light setup with the circle light and the overhead cfl .. positively brilliant .. i loved it .. its that kind of innovation that will take our hobby out of the realm of the corporate yes-men and put it back where it belongs .. this i truly believe.

lol thanks for listening to a ole hippy ramble .. but DAMN this Skunk is GOOOODDDD !!bongsmilie

super skunk eh? I'll admit that (being a total noob) I am not familiar with more then its name. Guessing that it smells like shit and gets you HIGH but what about background, sative/indica percentage, flower time and general hight (tho that part is easily changeable)?

Thanks guys!
