It seems like no matter how much I water my 3 gallon pot, I can not get any runoff. My soil mix is (2 parts OF, 1 part LW, 1 part Perlite, Dolomite lime, and some dunks. I water evenly, then wait, nothing, I water AGAIN evenly, then wait, still nothing. I only water every 3 to 4 days, on average. Why is my soil preventing me from getting any runoff?? Thanks!!!!! P.S. I use PH 6.5 distilled. I probably use 48oz of water each time I water. Should I just water it, no matter how many ounces it takes, just as long as I see some runoff???? PEACE!! :)

I would just keep watering till it drips, maybe you can take a clear container the same size as the containers your plants are in, fill with the same mix then water it till you see the whole thing is moist or wet(thats what she said) then remember how much water it took and viola you know how much to give your plants.

Growing medias hold from about 25 percent water (course perlite) to about 90 percent water (rockwool) if your soil is in the middle say
50 percent water holding capacity 3 gallons could hold 1 1/2 gallons (192 ounces) of water if bone dry. Of course a 3 gallon pot is more like 2 1/2 gallons in size

Gotta love that magic dirt!
