ladies and gentalmen get ready to be tired of paying 100 plus dollars for the same movie collection all over again just so you can watch it on the new player. sony and pana have agreed once again to produce a new digital player beyond the blu ray player. when do we as humans go FOCKING ENOUGH!!!!

They saw green after going with blue.
Sony and Panasonic, who earned gobs of greenbacks after jointly developing the Blu-ray optical disc format, announced an agreement Monday morning to develop a next-generation disc with a far larger capacity.
Targeting a release date of 2015, the new disc -- which is yet to be named or described in detail -- would hold at least 300GB, the companies said in a joint statement released Monday.
“Both Sony and Panasonic recognized that optical discs will need to accommodate much larger volumes of storage in years to come given the expected future growth in the archive market,” the companies said.
The Blu-ray format was created to advance the DVD format, holding the substantially larger file sizes associated with high-definition movies (and increasing restrictions over how a consumer could use a film). Blu-ray beat out the HD DVD format championed by Toshiba, validating the millions spent developing the format.
But even Blu-ray has a limit: Modern discs sandwich multiple layers to hold even more data, topping out at quadruple layer discs that hold up to 128GB. When it comes to data storage and archive, more is always better.

Another disc format? Why cant discs go the way of the 45?

Discs are a horrible format, I just want to buy and download
whatever movie I want, store it on my system and be done with
it. No more scratched discs, need for storage etc....

Be gone you horrible plastic discs.

I haven't purchased a CD, DVD or Blu-Ray in well over a decade. I'm all about the zero's and one's. Own over 7 TB of data in apps, movies and music.

Depending on your provider(s) and storage handling of said data you may infact not own that much data. Digital licensing and all that. I wish I had the 350 CDs that got stolen out of my car in 2001. There were a few easter eggs in there.

The rating system on Netflix is just as important as the rating system on ROI. If I see a thread with anything but 5 stars I refuse to read that trash

ohhhhh the stars...gotcha ;)
See I tend to read the brief summary, check out who's acting in it and decide if It interests me. I prefer unknown movies and really only I can judge if I enjoy a movie. I've never been one to follow the crowd or allow others to make decisions for me.

thats was a positive comment, you took it negative. i think its good to be on others netflix. i used to have it and with all i rated the only thing left was the same boring b/s i never wanted to watch. have someone else's and you'r looking threw tons of stuff you might not have seen. if you rate certain genres of movies netflix loves to stick with stuff related to it by its idea of how it relates. still a good place for movies.

never worried about storage, i can build network storage devices in my sleep. i can stack 4, 2tb drives on RAID0 stripping and directly route my downloads to my NAS box faster than my typical download speed, which is roughly 5MB/sec.

meaning i can download a 13gb blu ray rip in about 45 minutes. and be watching it 1 minute after.

im was working on a way to watch the download stream.. but torrent chunks are readable by codecs.

That was simply Chinese crazy talk to me. :dunce:

I can run most any manual machining tools to the nth degree but I only vaguely understand about half those words.

Edit: Damn it - I'll spread it around a bit & try to remember to get back to you bro.
