Nirvana's Papaya 400w MH grow.

Here is a new group shot before I give a few buds the cut. I'll probably cut the main cola one 1 of the girls tommorrow. I'll let the lower branches finish up. I also threw in a picture of the only living hindu kush plant. It has been growing like crazy. A lot faster than the papayas did the first time around. I'll probably put that into flower soon and the clone that I cut from it is starting to get a small root growing out of the cut sideways. Hopefully that hindu is a girl. It has nice thick stems and it has 4 nice main branches. The papaya seedlings are still healthy and green. They seem to be about the same size as they were a few days ago but I'm not too worried as of yet. I'm sure the roots are growing like crazy right now. Hopefully I'll have a few pics of some chopped bud soon. Here ya go.

Here is a couple pics of the harvest of 1 of my plants. I have no idea what the wet weight is but I'll tell you what it ends up being when its dried out. This is the part that I am worried about. I am hoping that I don't let them get crispy or moldy I hung them up in a dark closet. It is about 20 percent humidity and around 62 degrees or so. Should I put a electric heater in there and set the thermostat at 75? I could have waited a couple days more to cut this one but some money issues are coming up and I need some income. It seems to be a real nice high and long lasting and doesn't have the full couchlock so I think it will be liked. The other 2 plants still have a while to go still so I'll just wait for those and maybe let them get really amberish before I cut and it will be a different type of high. I have a lot of clippings in the freezer right now waiting to be destroyed. Its a large ziplock about 2/3 full. I scraped the scissors of and also my gloves and ended up with a nice little pea sized nugget of finger hash. I think I may just throw the clippings in a pringles can and use panty hose and see what I end up with. If it sucks I'll try something different next time. Well here you go. This is my first harvest ever and it is 4 colas from 1 plant.

Any guesses on the dry weight? Just curiuos.

I am sure it does. I just hope I don't fuck it up now. I have a thermometer and a heater in there now set to 79 degrees. It should be fine. It should be ready in 4 days or so I am figuring.

If you have a fan to toss in there that would help things a bit. Don't point it at your harvest, but just get the air circulating.

I'm a little nervous about the smell on my first plant that I cut up. I hung it for 2 days then I got bored and made a rubbermaid tub dryer and stuck them in there. It dried nice and wasn't real crispy but now it has that grass smell that I have seen other people asking about. I don't know if I cure it for a while if it will go away or if its just because it wasn't flushed enough. If you put it right up to your nose you can smell nice bud but open the jar or the bag and it smells like the lawn mower bags. It's still a bit harsh also but it still hasn't been in a jar for that long yet. In a bong its fine. I have a cola from another plant in the bud dryer now and it doesn't smell like the first. It smells more like weed. The dryer I made works nice and fairly quick. My wife is going to kill me because I needed screen for the rack and all I could find was the screen door in our basement. I was stoned and it was there. Now its not. I also cut up a bunt cake pan because the center piece was exactly the right size to fit the fan in and be a nice intake. Well thats it for now. I should be getting the scale I ordered in any day now and the 30x mag glass also. I'll put the wieghts up when I get them.

The hay or grass smell goes away with curing. Thats just the chlorophyll your smelling as it dissipating from the bud.

After a couple weeks of curing it will smell dank as ever.

Also I gave the bud dryer an obscure name that a lot of people don't get but I'm old enough to know it. I named it R. Bud Dryer. Google it.

Yeah, don't worry about that grassy smell. After about 5 days in glass jars they start to sweeten up.

Just wanted to say that I had my first harvest smelling the same way but, now that it's had weeks to cure, it smells fantastic. The taste and high also change a little bit over time. BTW, sweet first grow. How's the work on the new closet layout coming along?

I am noticing the smell is starting to come around. The closet will be having an overhaul pretty soon. I'll wait for the last of the first round to finish and then do some changes. I will be chopping the rest down soon. The seedlings are kind of slow but they did that the first time also so who knows. I'll check them out a little further today and see what I come up with.

I got my scale in today and it works nice. The first plant that I cut and dried ended up being about an oz of quality looking bud and a quater of lower bud thats not as good looking. The other stuff that is in my dryer is one cola from the other plant that has 3 colas. That is about 25 grams now and is almost dried. the other 2 colas on that plant look about the same size so should end up close to that. I figure it should total about 60g's or so. The 3rd plant I am not sure how much yet. So there you go, first plant little over an oz and the second is about twice that and the 3rd may be close to the 1oz. I figure around a total of 4 zips from 3 plants. I can do better next time I am sure. I am pleased with what I got from these. I also checked out the seedlings earlier and the roots look like they are on the bottoms of the dixie cups so maybe a transplant in the morning will pep them up. I'll post more weights when I get them.
