Hey i have question does ur ww put out a powerful odor? I have ww growing but i was wondering if they stink a lot and if they do does it smell like weed or does put out another type of scent?
As of right now No.. theres not much of an odor at all. wen u walk in my room.. theres a faint smell of weed.. but thats it.... for now. lol From what I've herd.. the smell gets pretty bad.. I think it will smell once all teh resin glands start showing up.. and its in its 6th week or so..
When i touch the crystals.. and then smell my fingers.. it smells JUST like fruity pebbles.. with a hint of skunky weed. and I feel like that might be what the strong smell is eventuall gonna e. =) once it strats stinkin up my house I will let ya know how it smells. lol. =) cant wait!!
Ok, let me just say in advance sorry if this runs long, Ive just done a lotttta reading and just wanted to say a few things and ask a few questions so please bare with me.
I hopped on RIU at...hell I cant even remember what time this morning and was just browsing threads and stuff and just happened to see the name of your thread talking about a White Widow grow!! One of the strains that has always interested me
just everything about it from the way its a hybrid (best of both worlds) to how its a medium size crop so perfect for indoor grows and the reputation it has for being hella good to smoke lol
It even looks mostly like an indicia strain from the fat leaves and overall bushiness of it, at least from some of the pictures Ive seen b/c Ive never seen it up close like many of you veteran growers who know a whole lot more about than me!
Wow I got sidetracked thinking about the WW lol
anyway
since this morning when I hopped on RIU, Ive been following this thread or catching up I should say and I gotta say man, its been some good fun and super informational following along. People are posting with some with good advice and others even stopping in to say wow thats an amazing looking plant! and keep up the good work! Like you said, that makes it even more fun to grow when you have others interested and helping out. I wish I saw it sooner so I could have been chiming in along the way lol Maybe next time!
It really is amazing to me how shes grown though, from what little Ive read compared to all the knowledge out there about growing, I didnt think CFLs could produce quite enough light to feed her enough to create this kind of growth
I mean maybe its good genetics like you said and Im sure that plays a part in it. A good plant must start with good genes but still
shes really getting big to have CFLs feeding her
Something you said about the lights caught my attention
You said the CFLs wattage has a comparison wattage and your 200watt CFLs compared to about 1,000watt heat lights???
I know Im not quoting you right at all so please help me out here if you can remember
I tried to find the post but I literally just finished the 45 pages worth of post a few minutes ago and cant remember which page its on
Anyway, maybe thats one of the reasons its growth is so good is b/c you have lights all around it instead of just 1 above it?
I was also wondering how you are able to keep it cool in a closet with so many lights and so ventilation. Or do CFLs just not put off much heat at all? Ok, but even if the lights are cool and the room is at a pretty good temp, doesnt the air need to circulate to create a healthy atmosphere for the girls? (Fresh air coming in and other air and odor going out) Im sure a lot of these questions are newbie questions but Im still just a newbie to it, I think its super fascinating and trying to get my head around it.
Did you say you just got nutrients from wal-mart? I always thought you needed special stuff for this kind of grow
Or maybe Im thinking of hydroponics
not sure.
Ok Im sure theres a bunch of questions Im forgetting but this is already long as it is, sorry for that!! Just want to say thanks a bunch for making this thread to include people in the grow. The pictures have been amazing, someone else spoke highly of your shots and I think the pics are on point too. The close ups really show ya whats going on
almost can smell it!!! Ahhh lol I will definitely follow along with ya on this one, its been fun and look forward to see more good pics!!
lol. Its fine man. I get carried away alot of times to when writing on here. I dont mind at all. I like when people write a lot on here. =) Lets me know there really interested, and I will do my best to answer all your questions.
Yeaa this is only my 3rd grow, and White Widow is a strain that has ALWAYS interested me as well, which was one of the reason I chose it. =) I also heard it was some-what easy to grow, which I liked, and heard the smoke is Legendary.. and that sounds pretty good to me! Lol.
And yea this one is more of an Indica.. I dont know why those, because White Widow is more of a Sativa than an Indica
? But mine if deff leaning more to the Indica side. I think it has to with how close I kept the lights the whole time because when you have the lights further away, your plant will stretch to reach the light, so even if you have a plant that is 100% Indica
. If you keep your lights too far away, it will stretch to try and reach it. =)
And thanks.. this thread has been pretty interesting, and like you said, has a lot of good info, thanks to a lot of dedicated friends I have made on here. =) This thread would be nothing without all of the visitors.. Including you. =) This thread has about 450 posts, and almost 15,00 views.. and Im only halfway donw with the grow!! There has been alotta people who have come on here too, just to tell me the plan looks beautiful, which is ALWAYS nice to hear. I take A LOT of pride in my grow, and it means a lot hearing
well.. seeing people write things like that. Lol. An its fine that you came along late, still got another4-6 weeks of flowering, and then the Harvest and Drying/Curing. You came when it just started getting good! Trust me, theres still a lot to see. =)
I am really amazed at how much/fast shes grown as well man! Everytime I look into my closet.. Im amazed! Also.. a lot of people hate on CFLs. but I have seen a few plants grows with JUST CFLs.. and theyve come out INCREDIBLE! I was subscribed to a few of them.. I will try to find them and show you.. so you can see the harvest pics. They look just as good, if not BETTER than some HPS grows. Dont get me wrong, if you have the money, HPS is the way to go, no doubt. But.. if your short on money.. CFLs can grow you some really nice looking plants!
I do think a lot has to do with genetics, because my last 2 grows were from bagseeds from some reggs/mids. Soo they werent anything great. They didnt grow this big.. but then again.. I didnt use this many CFLs. Well I did, but I had 3 plants growing with the same amount of lights as I have now on 1 plant. And I am SURE that having this many does help A LOT!
And ok. As far as the CFL comparison thing. If you look on a package right.. just say 150 watt CFL for example, since I have the package right in front of me to better help me explain it.
OK. So if you look at the package.. it sais 150 watts.. but right next to it, or on the back somewhere
it will say/ or show a picture of a CFL and say 150 watt = 40 watts. And above the 40 watts.. they show a picture of a regular/normal looking incandescent bulb. Its pretty much stating that this 40 watt CFL is = to 150 watt incandescent bulb. So the CFL is technically only using 40 watts of electricity.. but it puts out 150 watts of light. Thats why they always say energy saver and stuff like that.
I hope that helps. So pretty much, when I say I have about 220 watts of CFLs. I am talking about the ACTUAL wattage.. or how much energy it used. The comparison watts would be about 880 maybe? Since its a little less that 4x the actual wattage. Its really hard to explain.. but I did my best. Lol. =)
OK. And when it comes to it being cool. Your right once again. CFLs dont really put off much heat. Dont get me wrong.. If you touch it for a few seconds it will burn the shit out of you. Lol. And if your leaf touches it for a while.. it will burn. But CFL stands for Compact FLuorescent .. and fluorescent lights dont get too hot. Regular incandescent bulbs get REALLY hot! Which is one of the main reasons you cant use them.
For ventilation.. I have a double fan blowing in there to move the air around constantly.. and I open the door about 10 times a day to let some new air in every so often. I also have a homemade Co2 generator in there too, which is what they need too, so that helps. Also, the bottom of my door isnt exactly flush with the floor. =/ Thats just because my landlord sucks, and he put the door on too high, but its good because it lets new air seep in through the bottom.
And its ok man. Not all of the questions were Noob questions. Lol. And like I always say.. when I first started I had one MAIN person.. who helped me throughout my whole grow.. and was there to answer every question I had
and trust me
I had A LOT! Lol. And So now that I know a little bit more about growing.. I like to return the favor. =)
And yes, I did buy my nutes at Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart has some good nutes, and Lowes and Home Depot have a pretty good selection too. From what Ive heard.. the other, more expensive nutes, like FoxFarm and stuff like that are supposed to work better. But Ive never used them, so I cant really say. But the ones Im using seem to be working. Just look at my plant. =)
Just in case your wondering, Im using Schultz All Purpose Plant Food (10-15-10) for flowering.. and I used Miracle Grow Nutes for Vegging. I forget the NPK rating for that though. But pretty much anything HIGH in N (nitrogen) works for Veg.. soo look for something with a high 1st number on the back of the nute package/box/bottle such as 20-10-10 or 15-5-5.. anything like that will work. And then you want a high 2nd number for flowering, such as 10-20-10 or 5-30-10.. anything like that will work.
And thanks for the kind words man. Yea I LOVE the big pics. You can see SOOOO much more detail! You can see all the crystals in these new pics I just posted.
Allllll righty! I think that was all your questions man. Lol. Hope it helped. Thanks for joining me on my lil grow. =) I will try not to disappoint. =)
