Nirvana's AK48 Strain:Could Be Better in My Opinion.Not Bad Though

Nirvana's AK48. I thought it would be a keeper, but unfortunately its not a keeper for me personally.

I gave it right under 8 weeks to flower before harvesting. Trichs were 80% cloudy with 15% amber and the remaining 5% clear. Air dried them for 4 days just like I've done with past harvests. From there, I put them into jars to start the cure.

I realize that, the longer you cure the buds.. the better they'll end up being. I realize that, but, at the same time.. I like to take a few little sample buds out to test while the rest starts curing.

I will say this.. I didn't even finish one single bowl though.. before I started feeling a little head change.. or a "buzz". About ten to fifteen minutes into the buzz... then the "relaxed" "chilled" effect kicks in.. then about 5 minutes into that, the actual "high" sneaks its way. Very smooth transition I might add.

Lastly.. it could use a little more taste and a stronger smell might help it out as well. It has pretty much zero smell. That is, until you start breaking up the buds.. then the smell is let out. The smell reminds me of grapefruit/lemonade.. not too strong.. but not strong enough IMO. As far as the taste goes,... hard to describe but at the same time its a good taste. Kinda earthy, fruity, and piney taste to it.

Anyhow, I'm still happy with what I got from my last AK48.. but on a scale from 1 to 10? I'd give it an 8.5

I too grew out 10 AK-48's Can you say DOO DOO? Besides the fast flowering time there wasn't much else that I liked about this strain. I did find a purple pheno in the ten pack though. Needless to say, it did not make the cut. Peace

I'm getting tired of giving plants my utmost care and attention for 7 to 9 weeks (strain depending) only to end up with a weak product that is BARELY potent enough to give a head change or a slight buzz.

Quite honestly, I'd almost rather smoke some regs... than waste 7 to 9 weeks of my life only to end up with some weak ass product. At least I know that regs would get me high and or stoned. Shitty genetics IMO.

So again, if anyone has any actual potent and good smelling/tasting strains that you want to recommend... please feel free to post the name of the strain in this thread. Would be much appreciated!

hey gangaluvr i finaly tried superlemonhaze & after 2 grows back to back that were less than good ,im finaly happy getting close to harvest & have never been a greenhouse fan but slh is really all thay!!! heres some pics the extra time is worth it

I wish i could comment I ordered 2 packs of 5 fems back in Sept never got them put in a ticket sent again never got them now told too bad never use niravan agian. I must say however thier White widow and White castle were awesome.

Really...I really find their support has been killer. I did receive a few crushed seeds once and they just replaced the order straight away.

Also....I am growing the ak48 and have to say that these buds smell just like juicyfruit gum and so dense are the nuggets. They are getting me way more high then the blue cheeze from my last grows. I Love the ak48 and will keep it...for now...untill the next great thing comes along. I grow organic and it makes it easy to keep many kinds of strains going...

What else to say....love me some AK48

hi good review. i got the ak48 fem 5 pack last year. germed 3 of them and saved 2. 1 of the 3 ended up a male!! i am really careful about labeling everything but its possible that i misslabeled, because i do different strains and regular and fems both. so i wont bash nirvana for the male. the 2 females both grew about the same and smelled and tastes the same. along with about the same as your review except mine sounds like they had a little stronger smell than yours did, and i would only rate it at about 6 overall. was a decent yield tho.

i also got a 10 pack of california orange bud regular. grew 2 and both were females and grew about the same. there was a hint of orange taste but could be more and i wish the high was stronger. overall rate this at about 7.5
i may get another pack or 2 of nirvana due to the price but i def. see if you pay more you get better finished results. just have to watch out for the scammers that want outrageous amount of money for their beens.

last year i picked up the reserva privada kandy kush. costs over twice the price of nirvana, but the kandy kush has been one of my favorites. so this year i ordered the dna genetics cataract kush and the recon. i am expecting something special. the les expenive seeds i ordered were the big buddah cheesus and chiesel.

my 2 fem ak48 is 4 weeks 30",i veged for 2 weeks seems to be cumming on fine,any one got a bit more info and comments on their ak48 from nirvana

But you need to get on attitude, go to next generation reg. Romulan and GrapeGod are in stock!!! I've never personally tried the grapegod but I've only heard great things.

The romulan is one of my alltime favorites, for potency. If you want some tips for strains, I'm growing cataract kush (seedlings), jack herer (flowering), and plushberry (vegging)

Seeds I have yet to pop, Nirvanas super skunk (weeken whopper 20 seeds 40$ delivered), LA Cheese,

There's so many great strains out there. You shouldn't have a prob finding some.

/droooooool at romulan ;D It is my next order for sure, ive been drooling on it since i first saw it in a HT mag like 10 years ago lol (prob just cuz im a trekki stoner tho)

I just got to try some a couple days ago. My report is pretty much the same as yurs..i found it lacked taste a lil bit..but didnt taste bad. Had a nice lemony smell and was frosty as hell. I couldnt believe how strong it was. Gets me pretty ripped. Lasts awhile to. Id rate it a solid 8.5

AK48 has my vote !

Not sure if the strains are the problem if you are getting that bad of results....

It is actually rare that I grow something that I think is just complete shit and Barney's Farm is usually involved.
