>>“We don’t want marijuana businesses in our community,” said anti-marijuana activist Maribel Briseno....<<

For the geographically challenged readers, Montebello is a suburb of LA. Just so happens that I live so close that I could walk there in two hours, according to Google Maps. I don't mean any disrespect to the residents, but let's just say that it's not Beverly Hills or Brentwood. Median income there is well below the median income for the state as a whole. As a general rule, that part of the county tends to be what might charitably be characterized as "gritty" or "industrial." Or, if you want my biased opinion, ugly. So, what I'm saying is, what the hell are they trying to protect from the "shady" cannabis operators? I went to a Facebook page titled "Things to do in Montebello" and there's NOTHING interesting happening in that whole damn town. Whatever. The whole NIMBY phenomenon baffles me when it comes to resistance to legal cannabis.
