Next time I go with soil...

What do you do with your soil if you need to leave town for a few days? With hydro I could leave for a week or two and my plants would still get watered just like I was home:)
hire a mexican to water it... =\

A plant can go about a week without a watering, but I just don't leave for too long to tend them.

Will be setting it up tomorrow. Thanks again guys. And as far as carrying soil in the door, we carry 11 gallons of water in the house every week lol.

the learning curve and the cost of the meters and nutes along with PH up and down stopped me. i was given a half grown plant in a diy five gallon setup , it was too much for me to learn half way through the game , it is something i def. want to try again on my own terms and my own set up , later

Holy crap! lol I just use tap so nobody around me sees anything! Although water is less suspicious then bags of soil all the time. I mean a person can only have so many house plants. lol

I grew 8 plants with 1 small bag of miracle grow.... the soil bag fit inside the store bag... and tap water/rain/snow, it's nice. that's all I use in my grow. I have no need for a ph meter or temp meter. it's alll well

that' the one thing i love about hydro, all you really need comes straight from te bath. If i owned a place i was willing to goto town with, one could easily plumb a tap straight into the grow area, score!

It's all about what works for you and your situation though. I started on soil, moved to coco, and then moved to DWC, hydro seems to be the way but i'm still contemplating changing things up just so that it flows a bit better with my MO.
