Two more questions:

I can not find anything that says 6500k at Lowes or Home Depot... I found a couple that do say 'daylight' but not in big wattages... where else could I look. My grow shop says they dont have any CFLs that fit in a household socket.

Also, I leave the door to my closet open much of the day (while I home) to ventilate well. Could I be letting too much light out??
yea, I get all my 26watt 6500K CFLs at walmart. You will have to accept that your plants have been through some sh!t. They haven't led perfect lives so far and it's going to take some time to recover. They don't look overwatered or underwatered. Leaves are nice and flat. You have plenty of light. As long as you have a fan keeping the heat off of them they will start to grow faster. The problem you're running into is the more leaves a plant has, the faster it grows. You don't have many leaves. Don't sweat it. They will come around. And definitely don't be embarrassed. If everyone looking at your thread posted their first plant (me included) you would get a good laugh out of it. We've all had these kinds of problems. That's why there's a ton of forums dedicated to growing. It's not easy to do the first time.

no, I had CFLS that I thought were daylight (never did see 65k) but they were just 'soft white' and when I got my HPS I nixed all the CFLs together,

now I found this small 23-watter on my sun-porch and plugged her in...

SO MUCH BLUE

I see how it really can help balance the spectrum... i will try and at least get a couple more.

My problem is how to hook them up... everything in my closet is connected to one extension cord, I'm afraid of plugging too many things in one small space :-/

OK, most circuit breakers in the US are at least 20 amps. At 80% safe usage level you can run 1400 watts through that circuit. Each wall outlet has a different breaker. If there are two plugs in the same outlet, they are usually on the same breaker. I have a 400 watt HPS, 600 watt HPS, and two fans hooked up to one powerstrip (all on one circuit). You can put all your stuff on one outlet no prob dude.

Day 33/18:
I just feel a little better today about the girls... on the upswing if you will... or so I tell myself. All new growth is perky, though Sway still has lots of droop from before, though she's holding her own secret (find out at the end)...

Fox is still leading with set of leaves, the littlest bit of set 7 is starting. My lolely little 20-something watter daylight CFL is over by little Franky, and I think I really do notice a difference with that little bit.. Franky's new growth is looking STRONG

Though the biggest surprise is Sway!! Fox was the first with root growth under the bucket(s).. still only around 1"... Sway though has her root growth at the bottom, and in one day has surpassed Fox, a little over 1". Could Sway really catch up in size?? I hope so... I think out of all of them I see pre-sex pistils on Sway...

I will be getting a couple more daylight CFLs to spread the love, nothing too crazy though.. just a little accent.

Is redemption around the corner?

Leggo dude finally a lil root in the water! Bro I could only imagine what ur crazy ace put those things thru but its good they are coming around. Taking longer than i expected but im sure they will show some nice veg up top in the next week or so!
I brought a plant back from death in soil. All the leaves were actually dry and falling off before i threw it in a bucket and a few weeks later a new top was growing from it dude so just hang in there. Getting a couple more cfls is going to fatten them up tho bro but anyhow glad to see good things finally.

YOUNG MONEY, damn just blazed and finally got ur screen name.
Leggo he is right but ur going to need a few cfls to cover all ur bishes vegging with cfls.
Im putting a pic of a true blue ( actinic ) M/H lamp in here made by jbj lighting and mainly used in aquaria for people with saltwater aquariums to grow corals and such in there fish tanks.
U can pick up a 100 watt or so with ballast online for about a hundred bucks. These things burn blue bro and thats what ur trying to achieve vegging.
For that tub size thats all ur going to need, matter of fact u could completely fill that tub with net pots and have a jungle on ur hands with one of these lights long as u follow the game plan i already laid out for germ and seedlings, water levels etc. U have the manuel.
Bro look up saltwater aquaria as well. I know its way off track here but not really. Corals grow the exact same way plants do by photosynthesis. M/H Is the only way to sustain life in an aqaurium. Lol the sick part is that alot of people dont know by introducing an hps u can get corals to reproduce. I know thats going to end up making sense.

Anyhow heres the pic of that M/H lamp

That lamp dose look nice. though I think I'll just stick with the CFLs, just based off of money...

I'll get them at walmart tomorrow

Hell yeah, dude. I've actually done experiments with this. I wish I still had the pictures. I set up one side of my veg closet all with 2700K (yellow) bulbs and the other half with 6500K (blue/white) bulbs. After a couple weeks not only were the plants under the 6500s bigger and bushier but the plants under the other light were leaning over and trying to steal the blue light away from the others. Vegging plants prefer the 6500K hands down.

leggo. dont let the slow start get you down, im sure you are learning tons. my only advice. read more threads here, like 5 or 6 grow journal threads all the way through everyday. its a couple hours of reading a day, but it will answer many of the questions you have asked in your thread.

dont give up, and keep it simple. cfls are a good way to learn the basics. nutes are great too, can increase the yield vastly, but dont over do it.

be kind to your kind, and it will reward you.

and as for yung, as if you havent been warned or probed, you have a piss poor attitude. if your not here to help people learn, and learn yourself, why are you here?

Day 34/19:
Quick update... all is well, Jane had a root you could barely see last night... and today she has two almost in the water!! Sway has two as well...!!

Have three 26 watt 65k CFLs in the middle of the girls.. they love it!! They're always leaning that way, and I have to rotate pots.. I really think they were starving for that blue!!

pics tomorrow!!

Day 35/20:
So right now this is the temporary set up for my 65k CFLs. Because of my rigged hood I have, it is in the way where I would hang the CFLs from above like I did in the beginning. Dont ask me why, but right now I can not have these hooked up to the same timer as my HPS.. so right now I manual turn on/off the CFLs in the morning/night... does this throw off/confuse the plants photoperiod?? Even if the HPS is set to the timer?? (The CFLs are never on before or longer than the HPS.. so I don't change from 18/6.. just the amount of light...

The plants are doing well, may just be placebo or something, but I think I'm noticing growth on the verge up a spurt.

All but Franky (the youngest) has roots out of the pot... Here is Fox with the what I feel is the strongest 'system' (LOL.. I know). Though I have a question... I think I use larger net pots than some of the other people i am trying to compare root systems too. Now is it stupidly simple of me to think mine are coming fine, just having more hydroton/pot to get through???

Awesome leggo, that strip is not going to work very long where its at u are going to want those lights above the tops. But will prolly be fine for a week or so bro. Looks like u should be able to run an extension cord from a timer to time that whole strip. It doesnt hurt manually turning on and off ur lights but u need to make sure u do it every time and on time. I personally would never be able to do that. Disruptions in lighting schedules can also stunt growth and stress the plants and even force to flower premature. Good job Dude! Damn this grow was beggining to stress me out! Im glad to see its going to pull thru.

yeah I know the strip is just there just for a week or so.. just wanted to get it to them ASAP. I hope things start to pull a Lil' Kim and 'jump off' WHOA LOL...
