Sorry about the title should be Advice , its getting late where i live ha

I put the seedling into the pot when the seeds first root came out while using the wet paper towl method , just waiting on the seed to rise up to the top now , been like 2 and a half days and looking on the internet people have had better success, getting paranoid and don't want to be waiting a week to find out I messed up or something

Its under a 600watt Grolux lamp but it isn't that close to the pot but is definitely heating it's about 2 and a half feat up. Got my see-through plastic cover to keep it moist etc and the soil is nice and moist on the top just waiting for him to start getting his tan on. Light is on 24-7

Any expert reassuring me would be good plus info about what could of gone wrong.

I am all for any advice i have to start somewhere :D

Cheers lads.

lol one of the flushed out worms better not have got an appetite for my seed !

How deep did u plant the seed? U want it about 1/2 inch below the surface. If u planted too deep, you can CAREFULLY remove some dirt to expose the seed, it should have sprouted after 3 days.

half an inch can be too deep, depending on the seed width. you want to plant twice as deep as it is wide. just like desertrat said, gently scrape away the top layer of dirt to allow the seed to push through. is there a possibility of the soil being too moist? damping off of the tip could prevent further growth.

o dear looks like i messed up maybe it was to deep , i water it abit on the second day which i do realise now was a mistake seeing as i reckon with it being a big pot already and i watered it the first day i might of already overwatered , was convinced by a guide to water them everyday in germination though thinking about it i don't think it would of needed it for another 2 days , so it may be to moist would taking the plastic cover off for abit help if this was the problem ?

I slowly took the soil away with tweezers and didn't find any evidence of it actually being there :O i think i raped it with water or something odd but couldn't find anything so i am going to start again it looks like

Any tips or what just happened , and what i could do to actually get my next guy to reach the surface.

probably just like you said, i think you overwatered them. after you germinate i would recommend using something like a peat pellet. you can get them at your local hardware store very inexpensive and sometimes they come with trays and domes. they breathe well giving much needed oxygen to the root system. water the pellet and plant your seed. when you put it in your dome, you probably wont have to water it until the first leaves appear above ground. take off the dome and youre on your way. good luck with the grow! aloha a hui hou

My personal favorite way is to use the papertowel trick then once seeds germinate and open up put them in a peat pellet (I like the jiffy pellets myself). I find it works great and have been really succesful in the past doing it that way. The Jiffy pellet I keep in one of those cheap plastic greenhouse kits so it stays nice and humid. Either use a heat mat with thermostat to keep temps around 70oF or just store the greenhouse kit on top of a fridge if you can... the heat from the fridge will keep it at around the temps you want. once your seed(s) have sprouted from teh top of the jiffy pellet you can burry the pellet with seedling into your dirt or if useing hydro cut the net carefully around it and was the dirt off new roots and place in rockwool cube and stick in hydroton. To get it inside a rockwool cube i slit the side open to the center so I can place the seedling into the center of the cube safely.

I am a total noob but have sprouted a lot of seeds that way in my youth with noone to give me any tips or pointers and it worked great. I may not have had any great grows when I was a kid (internet was not invented yet when I was young and no one admited to being a grower so never had anyone teach me how to grow properly)... but I waDec 3, 2010 Minie.jpgs always successful at getting seeds to sprout and start growing fast. ;)

Once your seeds take off i would strongly suggest you get advice fromMinie Start of Sprout Nov 23, 2010.jpg anyone else on this site... a lot of people here have had some amazing grows and i am trying to read as much as I can to learn from them. ;)

Basic Overview of Stealth Hydro setup 1.jpg

Sorry my first attempt to download pics... but 1 pic is the cheap greenhouse kit sitting on top of my Stealth hydro setup to get my plants started. I just have a cheap 4 ft flourescent up in that pic but do have some CFL's for when my cabinet is finished. The other 2 pics are of the Jiffy pellet and the seedling in the rockwool cube. Both pics are of the same seedling just a few days apart. I know there is stretching in the pics, but due to circumstances I cant put the CFL's up yet.

Hope this helps, and I am sure some others will have even better advice than I do ( but this works for me).
