Ok so im a lil short on cash this weekend but i gotta take clones off my grape ape because its flowers and has shown sex. This will be my first experience with clones! I was going to get a humidity dome, some rooting powder, and start the clones off in some white solo cups. Is it ok to start the clones off in that size of a cup? or shuld i grab one of those tray with a more shallow depth? Also can i get away without buying that heat pad? Hoping to get about 5-6 clones hoping at least half survives. Hitting up home depot in the AM trying to spend no more than 20-30 bucks. help a new cloner out?:eyesmoke:

Im a new cloner myself. I used x nutrients clone gel because I got it several years ago as a free sample and never used it, I use coco now, so I put coco in a red 16 oz party cup, watered the coco with 5.8 ph water and took the cutting. I took a knife and "skinned" the bottom inch of the stem. After that, I took my knife and did the best I could to get a 45 degree angle at the bottom, poured some clone gel in the lid and stuck the stem in the gel. Then I placed it in the coco, pushed the coco around the clone so it's nice and snug... And in 10 days I had roots. If you got big fan leaves on there, cut the leaves in half. For lights, I just kept them a distance away from the 600 mh and they were fine, and still are. I didn't use no dome or misting.. I just watered with paged water when needed.

You should be ok as long as your room is not too cold, it is best to have a propagation matt (heat pad) and try to maintain around 75 to 80 degrees, I realize they can be expensive but well worth it in the end.

going to make a cloning thread my self. domes are great. if you are up in the mid to high 70 f, no need for heat pad. i just soak my rockwool in water, no poweder or gel. clones get put in 2 inch or so rockwool. keep temps in the 70s? i use a shop light or for small runs a 35 w cfl bulb. don't crowed cuts too.

Well did it. rapid rooters, rooting gel, trays, and the humidity dome. I got 11 cuttings off my grape ape and 4 off my bag seed.Gonna leave the dome on for 3 days (airing out twice a day?) and hope that at least 60% of the clones root. I will defintely do a better job with the grape ape this try around. Ill be getting better lighting soon,im going to start them out in different size pots diff training techniques etc. Wanted to thank you guys for your help and quick responsesunnamed-3.jpg
