Newbie, 1st grow

Hey all,
This is my first go-around. I did much research on this site before beginning.
Just have one question. I currently have 7 seedlngs, about 5 inches tall. small grow room, under 250w mh currently, to be switched to hps for flower. I'm using bagseed,
and my goal was to get two females to grow under the 250. My 7 seedlings are going to be too much very soon for that light. I want to weed it down to 4 till flower, than hopefully get 2 females. Any suggestions on this. I don't want to get 6 weeks in and have all males. Next time around I plan to buy some feminized seeds. Any knowledge would be much appreciated. thanks

You have a 50% chance that one seed will be female.. so you probably will get 3 or 4 females, maybe not.. My friends gotten 10 seedlings and only 2 of thems turned into female.. But that shouldnt be your main priority right now, make sure there growing good.. a 250w MH isnt gonna do much but get them going for the next week or so. Your gonna need something in the range of 500w HPS for 7 plants. But uploads some pictures man, good luck!

ya, that's the problem. I'm sticking with the 250, but not sure how long I can keep the 7. Thinking of getting rid of my worst 3, and hoping that is enough light to get 4 into flower (with hopes of 2 females).

Yeah man, throw away 3 of the smallest and odd looking ones.. then you'll be alright.

Look into this thread, and spend a lot of time reading it. It will teach you everything you need to know about maximizing your yield under limited light and limited space.

thanks for the info guys. I have already started LST with the seedlings. Do you all think that will give me a similar result to SCROG? Good call, I'm gonna dump 3 of them tonight.

Yeah, it'll be fairly close. SCROG just guarantees that the canopy will be level so light can evenly reach the entire grow.
