so i think @CraxCorn was right. i believe i do not have enough clearance as the tent is smaller than imagined (yes i knew it was 4' before buying so im just an idiot) i have attached pictures below showing my current situation. However i have downgraded my system from my previous plans of using a 400w i am now using a 250w so i am hoping that helps with my clearance issues!!

so as far as the wing goes i plan on removing those hooks and attaching it by cable to the top support to gain about 2 inches of clearance. (i know not much)

as far as the waterfarm goes i plan on letting the drip ring sit a little lower than usual as i cut the support to to let it fall further into the reservoir so i wouldnt have to use so much hydroton allowing the plant to sit lower and get a head start on height so i can bend and weave through the screen!

i also have an idea of propping the tent up and cutting a hole to fit the waterfarms reservoir allowing it to sit under/outside the tent giving me an extra 8 inches of clearance. (this is last case scenario before buying another tent so let me know what your thoughts are)

good news is the ballast and bulb fired right up! the pic below is of my hortilux 250w mh e start bulb i got from amazon for 35$
the bulb wasnt even on for 5 minutes in the picture. its really bright i must admit. in fact i had to focus the camera in the corner just to get a clear shot!

so im not very far from starting to grow!!

thanks in advance IMG_0929.JPG IMG_0933.JPG IMG_0934.JPG IMG_0935.JPG IMG_0936.JPG IMG_0937.JPG IMG_0938.JPG

Look up videos on topping and scrog. Start topping as soon as possible and get a net in there as soon as the stems are able to be moved. Switch to 12/12 in as little as 3 or 4 weeks. Remember, they will stretch as much as 3 times their height in flower, so a scrog and early switch will help keep them away from the light. If you scrog correctly with topping, that whole tent area should be filled with buds, with plenty of room between the tops and the light.

Downgrading to a 250 w will reduce the heat, but you're also reducing the light output. The clearance issue is mainly because of just the heat. I know you already bought the stuff, but you'd be better off getting a 400 watt t5, or an LED. The plants can get closer to the light without worrying too much about the heat stress, and you'll get the higher light output - in turn, more yield. 250 watt is going to get you shit for yield.

yea ive been looking into topping because i am almost positive i will need to. at this point im just gonna have to stick it out for this first grow with what i got and then ill probably upgrade to a taller tent and a higher output bulb. until then im just gonna do as best i can and try to learn as much possible from this grow!

I understand. You're going to be disappointed in your yield though. And it's not going to be worth the electric bill hike.
