New York juror form includes negro

And i'm pretty sure if it was understood to be offensive, it wouldn't be an option on the US census.

I'm sure there many americans who might argue the term yank or yankie offends them when coming from a foreigner, yet at the same time there are most certainly plety of americans who are proud to class themselve yanks/yankies. Either way there is no offense implied in a foreigners use of yankie/yank.

They took the word negro out of the census.
DO you know why?
Can you guess?

I think it's about context. "Darky" was indeed used in the South as a disparaging term. I wonder if the difference is one of our having grown up on opposite sides of the Mason-Dixon line. Regional colorations (sic!) are real imo. As old as I am, that one was always impolite. If you wanted to be almost genteel about it, the term was "colored folk" ... a subtle sneer.

i agree about darkie, i just couldn't bring myself to admit to buck that he was right about that one term, lol... but i think you're right, it all depends on context..
being i was born and raised in nj, and have never really been in the south too much, other than a few days in florida for my sr. trip, i'm not too familiar about some of the terms used down there and whether they're derogatory or not..

i would never judge what is or is not an acceptable term based on my upbringing in NJ, that place was kinda...well...you know.

All you really need to do to find out if Negro is derogatory
Is use it as a greeting for any blacks you come across.

Find out for us if it is derogatory or if they feel offended. Let us know how it went

In which case i could argue that nigger is not racist, based on context. My mother used to sing eenie meenie minie moe, catch a nigger by his toe. She doesn't have a racist bone in her body. The context is simply that's what the actual song was before PC came along and they had to change it to tigger. She was not taught it as a racist term, she did not use it as a racist term, she just used to sing the word nigger, because it was just a word.

Next time i'm called white i'm gonna cry and pull out the racist card. I'm Caucasian, stop being so bloody offensive, how can you have such a sick mind!

Ignoring what i say above, your argument would be flawed. Black people often refer to each other as niggers. so that then goes back to is it simply racist because the receiver believes it is being used in a racist manner. If a white and a black person both refer to the same person as a nigger, why is one being racist and the other not? Or are you suggesting it is impossible to be racist to your own race? That seems pretty illogical.

In the olden days as it was a rare occurrence if you were to see a "coloured" person you would think you were lucky, similar to stepping in dog shit
How times have changed

So you are out now?

As far as i am aware it is in fact OK for white folk to sing the nigger parts when listening to DR dre
although maybe check with your local negro representative first for regional differences to the above rule

Surely you are familiar with the "Nobody picks on my family but me." mentality?

I didn't know these as Brazil nuts growing up.

No racism in my family.

lol, i only recently, i'd say the past ten years or so, ok, maybe longer then that, but still for a long time, learned the real name for them as well 420... my moms 74, and not a racist bone in her body, like her son, and yeah, we all know what she called them..
and the lil dirt balls that'd build up on say your neck as a kid also had a name when i was a kid, and they weren't lil dirt balls on your neck for sure.. there was also a candy when my mom was young that had a certain name to them, althoug i'm much too young to remember those..

Yeah, walk around and issue skin tone based greetings to people; that seems like it will clear everything up.

Do you think we, the people of Earth, will ever get to the point where all this shit will be behind us? There is no doubt that many people don't want to see the divisiveness end because they are heavily invested in maintaining it.

Harrekin keeps saying that in Europe this stuff is not a problem, though I have a hard time believing it, what with the massive riots in France and such.

hold on...you joined a white supremacy group and routinely call the president a product of affirmative action (baselessly).
