yes i'm new here but i plan on sticking around

so i'm new to growing was going to get a 4x2x5 tent but realized it probably wouldn't be tall enough to support a 400w HPS air cooled hood with a carbon filter and fan

now i'm thinking a 36x36x6 tent but does anyone think that would be big enough for a 400w HPS and carbon filter setup? i've even thought of adding a LED during flowering but not sure the tent would be big enough what does everyone else think?

thoughts and advice are appreciated

That is a perfect size tent for a 400w, that's what I started with.
think i'd have any troubles fitting the carbon filter or possibly even a 300-400w LED with the 400w HPS during flower?

the 4x2x5 tent just didn't seem tall enough when i did some measuring don't wanna have hella short plants

image.jpeg I can pull a pound with 4 plants in a scrog in my tent but I run a 600w now and yield is off the charts better than the 400w. My fan sits on top of my tent and pulls air out (negative pressure).

wouldn't that be pushing through the carbon filter tho? i thought the point was to pull through it to help odor so i figured you'd want the filter inside the tent pulling through and pushing it out?

It doesn't matter if you push or pull the air so why put that beast inside to take up room in the tent, my tent is very roomy inside.

I leave my top vent open for passive air and it works great, never any air exchange problems or heat issues. My bottom vents are kept closed so I don't pull in any unwanted bugs from my garage floor.

still controls odor being pushed through? that's pretty much what im worried about lol

i'm going to get a air cooled hood and adding a fan on each side one bringing in fresh air pushing it through the light to cool it then one pulling the air out on the other side exhausting it out. really if i could get away with 1 or 2 plants not stinking up the house i'd do it without a carbon filter

Not trying to self-promote...take a look at my grow journal. I think my set up is pretty much what you have in mind.
