The rubber on the top of the gauge needs to be 'burped' to reset the gauge. I eventually drained out the silicone oil and left the plug out. Works perfectly.

Thanks for the reply! Do you mean just taking it out for a min and putting in back in? I tried that. Didn’t make any difference. How long should I leave it off

If the gauge doesn't reset to 'zero' when you remove rubber cap, it's defective and needs to be replaced to get an accurate reading.
