I have some bag seed that been vegg under 24/0 going on 4 weeks now my question is how soon should i expect my plants to show sex? thanx

A lot of the time (in my experience) they will pre sex around week 4-5. I would say to go 18-6 light cycle not 24 hour, that may be the problem.

Yeah I agree with frizzleman, if you know it's an autoflower keep it under a 18/6 schedule or 20/4 as I use. If it's a photoperiod plant they'll require 12/12 to start their flowering stage. Post some pics bro! We'd love to see your plant.

Plants will show sex under 24/0. It will be a few weeks before you'll see it. My dynamites sexed under 24/0 and one of them Even started budding they are not autos

I've got a 1000 watt mh in a 4x4 tent. I would like to get a 600 hps to switch during flower, but they're budding nicely so I'll use what was free.

Heres a few pics im trying to figure out how to post them the right way sorry for the inconvenience, The one in the gallon milk carton is grape ape, the rest are from reggie seeds. Plants have an odor strong stalks i do have some wrinkling leaves i know its a ph issue. Im not using any nutes, also just using basic cfls. I just wanted to do something basic to get a feel for what to do before i went in for my "real" grow.

I have never, ever, ever seen sex before flipping to 12/12. I've grown a lot of plants for "pre-flower" (it's flowering or it isn't ...) to exist and me to never once see it.

What does this "pre-flower" look like? Is it balls and white hairs? If so, why is that "pre" flowering? If not white hairs and balls, what is it? What else is there? Why do you even bother to switch to 12/12 if you see sex before flipping?

I'll assume puffntuff knows what they're talking about. Please enlighten me, I obviously need it.

Gary all your pics are sideways.

Google marijuana preflower, pretty common thing. Alternating nodes and preflowers are signs of sexual maturity. My indica doms always have alternating nodes n preflowers in week 4, sativas a week or so later

I grow outdoors and have grown some plants from seed each year. My plants are always right at 12 weeks before they can be sexed with accuracy. That's under natural sun light--I germinate in March (20/4 cfl lights) and put them outside at the end April in pots at about 6 weeks old until they're sexed, then I transplant them to my raised beds. They're usually around 2 feet tall by then. I looked up my records the last two gardens before this one and, each year, I have them all sexed out by the first week of June except last year. I'm not sure exactly how much sunlight they're getting but by May, in my location, I'm probably running about 12/12 sunlight, which is right in line with what some are saying is needed before the plants will sex.

All of that was just to give you some comparison to natural light for your on/off times. You guys with the good lights ought to be able to cut 12 weeks to 6 weeks, at least. Somebody (I have to learn to remember who posted what!) pointed out that the Sativas can take a little longer, which I have found to be true. One Sativa strain I grew last year didn't sex out until the 2nd week of June and they usually run a week or 10 days behind the Indica dominants, in my experience.

So, now you know how long it can take to sex them outdoors but, if you cut your lights back a bit, you should be seeing something much sooner than that. Good luck!

Alternating nodes is not any kind of flowering and doesn't say it's male or female. So sick of idiots telling me to google shit. Google my ass.

Not too fkg common, I don't think you people have a clue. This preflower crap is crap. Alternating nodes ... lmao. That isn't sex. Balls and white hairs are sex.

You nailed it dude, never smoked bud before.

So if it isn't white hairs or balls ...... what the f is it? You don't see sex before flipping. Do your alternating nodes tell you its male or female? lmao .. nope. You switch to 12/12 to cause it to show sex, that's the obvious point here.

Been trolling for 289 posts now.

Preflowers come out at sexual maturity of plant. That is how you tell gender.

bud is hundreds of those thingsstacked. All the preflowers do is sit there by their lonesome and produce no trichs.

I love you guys. My inner demons needed a smoke. I haven't seen preflowering before but I'm glad you have, it sounds useful.

I didnt say alternating nodes are a sign of sex , I said they are a sign of sexual maturity, that combined with preflowers says a plant that is ready to bloom. You can bloom at any time but if you wait until the plant is mature, you have a much faster flower onset. Notice how some people wait 1 week to have pistils poppin everywhere n some wait 3? The ones that had to wait 3 weeks flowered a plant that wasnt sexually mature. Why do I need to post a pic for you that would take u 3 seconds to google and see thousands of preflowers? It is seriously one of the most basic things their is and if youve grown out tons of plants and never seen one then your doing something terribly wrong
