New to lighting

Hi all this is my first grow and I yielded an ounce per plant... the lights I am using are from rapid led. I know nothing about lighting. I would appreciate if someone could educate me on what I’m working with. I want to be able to yield a pound from 1-2 plants.

That's a good light for a 2x2.. but you want maybe 3 of those in a 3x3 to really pull that kinda weight. Maybe even a 4x4 scrog training method.

What are the dimensions of your grow space?

I’m growing in half of my closet which is about 2x3. I probably will eventually extended it to my whole closet (2x7). I grew 5 plants in my last grow... definitely over crowded it a bit
How tall are your ceilings?

Which Rapid LED do you have, the 185w or 240w? Do you have one or two of them?

10ft tall ceilings. I’m not sure I think it’s 140w and I have 2 of them
The driver should say the wattage. If they are indeed 140w each they will cover about a 2’x4.5’ area.

In order to hit a 1lb harvest with 280w you need to get a bit over 1.6GPW which is doable but you need to have things pretty dialed. Good yielding strain, right amount of veg, lights at the right distance above canopy, enough ventilation with good temp/RH, have your medium and nutrients (EC/PH) on point.

What medium, size pots, and nutrients are you using?

I’m sorry I’m having a hard time finding the watts but I attached what the website says. I’m using a HLG-240H driver.
For the medium, I’m using fox farms soil (thinking of changing to coco for next run) in 5 gallon pots with general hydroponic nutrients. I’m also not sure about how bright I should have my lights & if to increase intensity as my plants grow.

Strain will have a lot to do with weight. There’s no amount of light, nutrient, or soil that’s gonna change what the plant is genetically capable of doing. I’ve ran strains that pulled 1lb from a plant, and another that just yielded 6oz, same soil light and Nutes. Gotta find the right genetics. Not that all the things mentioned above don’t matter because they do, but you gotta start with the right genes.

Thankyou! I will definitely look more into genetics. I grew Wet Betty by Exotic Genetix

The 240h driver puts out 240w, so if you have 2 lights for 480w total that can cover 2’x8’. I haven’t used the rapid led pucks but if they are similar to HLG QB 96’s you want them 18-24” away.

2-3 gallon pots of coco fed multiple times per day will have faster growth then soil and will usually yield better if grown correctly. I would say it’s a bit more forgiving as well.

Great thank you for all the advice!
