NEW TO LED, help please

You're right, but it would be difficult for me to come up with a more scientific comparison between them and white COB emitters. The most efficient 180 watts on the market isn't going to kill it in a 2x4. 400w HPS is an option similar in price to what mac is thinking about spending, so that's a possible option. 300w COB is a better option, but it going to run around $600-800.

What do you think about 2 of the Mars in a 2x4? Even if they weren't very efficient it would still be 360 watts and a $400 solution.
they're way cheaper on eBay..,$75 for 300w

I
found my Mars fans to be to loud, I had to replace my fan s with quiter fans it added 24 dollars to the cost of y the light, I could hear the fans from outside my grow box, but the new fans I put in at are silent, if I did it again, I would just replace the power supply with an adjustable power supply like we all use on our diy cobs, and run the fans at a lower voltage like 5 volts instead of 12
loud, not load, sorry

Woah woah buddy, that is not true on the prices, a 300 Watt Cobb would not be $600-800??? If he went with Vero, run at 75w, that's 4 Vero, x 28= $112, 2 hlg drivers at $70 x 2 = $140, then miss heats sinks, etc, about $80, ===== $330 plus S&H $360....and that was being modest, I built an 640w-800w(adjustable) Vero unit for $650... So what chu talking bout (g coleman voice)*)

I was estimating prices on a retail lamp. DIY would be much cheaper.

And no, Mars panels don't use COBs obviously.
