New to Hydro! My germinated seeds are dying!!!

Hi, I'll make this brief.

I germinate my seeds using the paper towel method. I then place the germinated sprout in the small cube growing medium. I place it in the planters with clay pebbles and put it under my 150wHPS which is about 1-1.5ft above. I woke up this morning and the healthy 2.5 in sprout was welted over and dead... I can't imagine the light would burn it.

Any advice I really appreciate, Thanks.

Got pics?

For my small plants I use CFL's, I kinda feel like CFL's produce a somewhat softer/difused light like a seedling naturally gets.

Good luck, I hope they recover.

seedlings are not the best in hydro. i grow them into soil moms. then take cuts, with a large healthy root system then transplant. or you should have just put the seeds in rockwool and germ'd them that way, IMO best way if you don't have a ez cloner.

Sounds to me like the cube dried out for it to die that fast

Same here. I am also doing my first ebb and flow and I planted 6 seedlings sprouted in rockwool cubes into grow rocks. I made sure that the bottoms of the cubes touched close to the ebb limit. All was good for the first 3 days then one wilted down... dried out. What happened to me was that the grow rocks like to float and they 'unsettled' and raised my cubes up. I raised the ebb level and the rest are really looking great.
