New to growing

Hi everybody
Recently I got into growing so I decided I wanted to buy a few seeds and plant them.
I only want one plant, because I only have a decently sized cardboard box to hold it in.
I was wondering before I buy supplies:
1) Is growing in a cardboard box okay? I've seen other people do it, and im not sure if its best.
2) I cant really fit those $200 expensive lighting systems in a cardboard box - what lighting should I use? Can I use something like a heatlamp for eggs or something?

Thanks! Happy smoking :bigjoint:

1) The 2 problems I see are the box will hold moisture if it gets wet and is extremely flammable. With caution it is possible. Just not safe.

2) CFL's, there is a whole section on growing with them.

A few pointers with cardboard boxes would just so happen to be:
-THink about the heat, like cph said, it could result in a fire.
-You'll NEED ventilation inside the box. Since even the coolest lamps give off heat. And the last thing you'll want is to cook your plant before it's ready.
-Also think about the smell. Depending on which strain of seed you've chosen to grow, the level of smell may vary. But regardless, if you're growing inside your own place, you'll still want to keep the smeel quite discrete, since it is known to be a pointer with which the fuzz will try to use as proof that you're growing. Even if it's just for 1 plant.
-Finally, you're probably thinking of growing soil-medially (soil based medium). If not, I recommend that you think about it, since Hydroponically or Aeroponocally will usually have more moisture, esperically in a restrained area.

Finally, if I haven't bored you out... greatest of luck and happy growing.
(And all the info I just put up is pretty much, or close to, personal experience, for I too, am growing in a small box.)
