New to coco, need advice.

So contrary to my user name i went anti-organic this round lol, i was gifted some Canna A+B so that is what will be used. I bought the some rhizotonic to go along with it.

I am using Mo Koko brand coco, its what the place had . I have no idea if it was "pre charged" but i ran some base canna A+B @ like 400 ppm and measured the run off at like maxing out my blue lab TDS meter. So i just kept running more of the same 400 ppm P.H. of 5.8 til the run off was in the same range.

Also using tap water, which is about 150-200 ppm dissolved solids, of which 35-40 ppm is calcium and 9-10 ppm is magnesium

Seeds were started in Jiffy's and remained in jiffy's till lots of root action was happening. I actually started the seeds before i knew it was going to be a coco run , other wise i might of just started em in straight coco to begin with.

There are a total of 8 baby's.

2 are Female AK's which i have planted right into there final resting home in a smart pot of 3 Gallons and will be vegged into a scrog net.

The 6 other baby's are regulars, a strain i was sent from Jordan of the islands, i don't think its one that is currently for sale anywhere as its not even listed on his website. Its a (BlueberryXStrawberry Cough) X God Bud. These i will veg and then take clones and find a female keeper then do a scrog run with that after. These are in 1/2 L plastic pots

Everything was started under T5's and then moved to my DIY LED COB fixture. 16 cobs that can dim 25w-50w any range between.

The plants have been under the LED's now for 14 days, one AK seems to be thriving with slight discolouring, the other AK is doing ok but something is starting to show on some leaves.

The 6 others are not doing as well, which should be doing better being as they are in a smaller pot they should be filling out better and using feeds up faster. I figured it could be over watering, so 3 i left slightly longer without water to see if that was the problem. There was no difference between the ones watered more or the ones watered less, all 6 display same issues.

After the pre-charge of coco, i ran A+B @ 2ml/Gallon, and increased slowly to about 6ml/Gallon, which is was i am currently feeding them at. which is about 1.0 E.C P.H. 5.7-6.0 i go back and forth hoping to find a sweet spot in which p.h. may make something more or less available. Oh also i am running drain to waste, and using rhizotonic +yucca extract(wetting agent)+ drip clean.

The 6 baby's in the 1/2 L pots are hand watered while being held in the air allowing 20-30% run off.

The AK's in 3 Gallon smart pots and sitting on metal cupboard shelving units with drain pans below to catch run off for measurements. They are on a drip line, which is now feeding 2 times a day for 2 min each time, which amounts to about 20% run off each time.

Sorry i made this out to be like a page long lol. I have tried to upload photo but its giving me an error. : (

Nice your on track it seems. almost 10wks into my first grow with coco and the biggest challenge has been pH for me. curious to see how those nutes work for you. all I can say is keep your pen calibrated and check your run off often.

Thanks man, well sit back and watch and hopefully i can get things turned around, and you will get my honest opinion on the Canna. I am coming from like over 5 years into the organic, which i definitely am not leaving behind, just taking a break and my current living situation its hard mixing and cooking containers of dirt lol. And having been gifted almost a full 5L A+B, i couldn't resist.

They look well nourished, but definitely overwatered... especially 1292 and 1293, 1301. Purple petioles point to a minor magnesium deficiency . Try lightly supplementing w/ calmag, or just 1/2 gram/gal epsom salt.

EDIT: just saw the 2nd set of pics... I'm seeing a calcium deficiency in 1308, 1310, 1314... which makes sense as coco has a tendency to hold onto cal. Add a calmag supplement and you should be golden.

See that's why i am stumped because, if you look at 1292's medium you can see its dry on the top and pulling away from the sides, i tried 3 of 6 plants to receive less water, to a point of almost too dry, the pot feels like you can float it in the wind lol. And while they look well nourished i suppose, the camera still doesn't show the detail like my eyes can pick out, its almost like there is slight purple colour going on between the veins, just ever so slightly.

That was my plan to add in an ever so slight amount of Cal-mag, but from all my research apparently Canna and tap water don't need any Calcium or Magnesium, i do have some GroTek Calmag plus.

Tough to tell from the pics, but was it a lifeless limp droop? Could even be under-watering on 1292, don't let coco dry out like soil. Either way, that droop is a watering issue... it'll clear up once you get the feel for coco.

That purple on top of the leaf stem, and out into the veins is Mg, IME.

Even though there is quite a bit of calmag in coco nutes... wether or not you'll need to add additional calmag is dependent on the strain and/or coco mix. Many strains are simply heavier calmag feeders. The spots on 1308, 1310, 1314 is clearly a calcium deficiency IMO.

My thoughts are to add in some calmag to the feedings, and you could give it some calmag in a foliar spray for quicker uptake.

I would go ahead and add extra CalMag to any Coco coir grow and would give a light feeding of 850 ppm/ph 5.8 of nutrients, at least once a day and even 4 or more if possible with 5% runoff. I also feed plain water one day a week. I've never had a problem with my coco getting too wet.
I personally run with the Lucas formula and have never used canna nutrients but their coco is excellent and easy to hydrate.
I've also found that coco gets better after each use.

I just finished my first grow on Atami coco with only Canna Coco A + B, my plants didn't have deficiencies.

Oh ya? How much were you feeding them at? Tap water obviously? Do you know anything about whats in your water before addition of nutrient?

I measured my tap water a while back and the ppm was 350, i don't think it is very relevant tho. I give my Amnesia Haze plants ppm 650 (Ec 1.3) or a bit lower. Other strains may need a little more.

Well that may tell me something right there, 350 ppm tap water, mine is 200 max. Calcium probably being the highest so that could be relevant. I added 1ml/Gallon of Cal max and upped my E.C to 1.2. P.H. 5.7. Will share results at first improvement.

The only other variables that are not exactly tuned in are my night time temps, which i am working to balance out, and keeping humidity up. My exhaust is a bit overkill but come flower its definitely needed. With exhaust on the lowest i feel comfortable, humming a bit, i can get the tent to about 35% humidity lights on, that is with moist towel and small cool mist running in the tent. Lights off its up to 65% humidity but temps drop to about 64, lots of heat loss through old windows. I am going to plastic shrink wrap the windows, and add a small 150 watt ceramic heater to bring night time hopefully up to 70

I have a bunch of Arduino clone parts coming and i am going to re-do my whole LED rig have the control and automation streamlined into one nice and simple package.
