Sounds like inexperience talking. There’s nothing wrong with either training method for autos. In fact they do extremely well with LST training. Hopefully you were feeding them and not watering. I know the two terms often get interchanged when talking about coco.

Yes fed right from the get go, cal mag only to start then ramp up w regular base nutes. The autos i LST’d did not produce as well as the ones i let go christmas tree style. YMMV

Yeah CalMag is overused and not needed when using quality nutrients. Your results were the results of poor growing and not the results of the training. It happens just don’t want people to think LST decreases yields when it’s actually the opposite.

Cal mags not needed in coco ? Is that what you are saying ? I use only quality nutes, my plants grew beautifully. I would never LST an auto ever again. That is MO. Best of luck w your grow

CalMag shouldn’t really ever be needed, coco or not. Correct.

You wouldn’t LST an auto because of grower issues you experienced in the past. Like I said in the last post it actually increases autoflower yields if you grow them properly.

I do regret using my 10 gallon pots a bit, but since I plan to take em outside, I am hoping what that does is allows the biology of my living soil to be easier to maintain since I try to keep it around field capacity vs letting it dry out as much as a traditional soil and nutrient/water schedule. Mine is essentially water only, supplemented with some molasses water and compost tea from time to time. Still working on getting that exactly where I want it to be, but my photo plants seemed to really love it with 85% water only.

I do plan to LST, it seems genetics and strain may play a role in how well that helps or not, I am sure every situation is different, but it looked rewarding to me. I feel like if I was to grow many small 3 gallon sized auto plants that leaving them be might be good for more a mini SOG or something lollipop style. My buddy has gotten some pretty large auto flower plants though and I am fairly certain he uses larger than 3 gallon pots.

I am new to controlling my own grows vs working on others gardens and farms though, so despite having a lot of experience from start to cure, its still a learning experience for me and my own environment, as well as growing "my style" so to speak. <3

first off I grow autos, I ask alot of ?s, why ? cause they are all Fucking made by mad scientists wit A Buzz, and wanting A bigger Buzz. think about it for A minuite. no rules, one breeder is xhang3ing this strand of Dna, Rna, changeing this ... charicteristic or that one, takeing this out, adding that, on and on. they do not know how their experement is going to turn out ( or not? ) are you trying to feed something that is reduced to nothing or hyped 100 times more than reasonable?.... anyway I use miracle grow says nutriant good for 6 months and I start feeding at 10 days, never burnt anything. (! I do know one thing for sure your plant WILL NOT get root bound and your roots will have plenty of room to grow with A 100 day life cycle !) p.s. I just purchased A 7 year old oak tree in A 10 gal. pot L.O..L. ZLOL.HEHEL.O.L. Sorry I had too. L.O.L.
