Depends on whether or not you want to super crop. i made my extra room into a grow room. i'll have pics of it for my grow journal after this harvest.
but what i have is 2 1000 watt hps. lights depend on the size of the room. i wanted to grow organic, so i purchased plant containers here Blow Mold Containers (but thats if you want to buy for a lot of plants.)
