new push to closer GITMO

I still haven't been told why I should care one way or the other. Don't we just move them all somewhere different if we close GITMO? Why is that better?

If the argument is to free the terrorists being held indefinitely then I'd like to hear that. If the argument is to close it and move the guys to a "not GITMO", then I just don't get it.

I guess this was just one of those issues I never really concerned myself with. I know Bush tried and failed, Obama promised in his first year and failed, but honestly, it didn't bother me and I'm not sure why it should?

Obama says he will do everything he can to close GITMO

Any objections?
He is releasing prisoners without notifying congress in direct violation of the law that he signed into effect.

Hell yes I object but there isnt anyone that I can object to who gives a shit that isnt in on it. Eric Holder that paste eating motherfucker has no interest in justice, due process or the constitution. He is a political hack hired by the president like all the other political hacks.

So right now I really dont give a fuck. Obama is going to be Obama. The courts will catch up with him eventually (that means they will overturn a lot of his shit). He is going to do a lot of damage but he got elected by a ton of Americans who were not paying attention. He promised us fundamental change, he just never explained into what...

You say
justice
due process
Constitution
then go on to advocate denying all that to the prisoners in GITMO

He signed the bill to keep them there?
Was that all that was in the bill?

He signed a bill stating that he would give congress notification that he was releasing prisoners. He has directly violated that law multiple times. The first one he used the excuse of trading terrorists for a deserter. The next few they havent even bothered coming up with an excuse...

Foreign war criminals do not deserve the protections of the constitution.

So what else was in the bill?
Was it an amendment on some bill to keep the government running?

Why? Is there some law that means the president can ignore what he doesnt like even after he signs it? No, but Obama acts like there is.

Like I said, I dont care. He is going to do what he wants to do. It will take time for the courts to overturn the unconstitutional stuff. There is nothing I can do about that so it is what it is.

So he should of vetoed the budget? Shut down the government?

BTW
if he broke the law. How come it's not going to court?

Where is the impeachment hearings?

I like, the answers just fine
he didn't break the law
and you want to ignore the constitution.
your racial and bigoted hatred dribbles thru on almost every post you make.
Why do you want to deny due process to the prisoners?
Why do you oppose the commander in chiefs prerogatives?
Why have you complained Obama never closed GITMO
and then complain when he Tries to do just that?

Washington (CNN) -- President Barack Obama says he plans to push to close the Guantanamo Bay detention facility during his final two years in office -- potentially fulfilling a major campaign promise that he hasn't yet accomplished.
"I'm going to be doing everything I can to close it," Obama said in an interview with CNN's Candy Crowley that aired Sunday on "State of the Union."

It is something that continues to inspire jihadists and extremists around the world, the fact that these folks are being held," Obama said. "It is contrary to our values."

The President's comments follow a flurry of executive action at the start of what he called his "fourth quarter" in the Oval Office -- after Republicans walloped Democrats in November's midterm elections, taking control of both houses of Congress.
After the election, Obama quickly announced an overhaul of U.S. immigration rules and new regulations aimed at curbing environmentally-harmful emissions. He followed those moves this week with a deal that represented the biggest steps to thaw the economic freeze with Cuba in decades.
The Guantanamo Bay, Cuba detention facility -- which Obama pledged to shut down as part of his 2008 campaign, but saw his plans thwarted when Congress passed a law prohibiting him from doing so -- could be another target ripe for executive action.

Why are you posting a 4 year old article about a budget passed 4 years ago to explain why Obama didn't close GITMO when he promised? That would have been the year AFTER he said by the end of the year. That promise ship sailed before this budget was even passed.

Oh never mind. This is so you can blame republicans for the broken promise.

I think it was just more complicated than He first thought is all. No big deal. He can get things wrong, He's human, as long as He learns from it, it should be a good thing.

Would closing GITMO and transferring the prisoners to a different site really be any different? I'm still lost on this. Do we just assume the terrorists are idiots and will say, OK, that's better, they are detained without trial in a different place now, all is well?

Great name for a Democrat in that article, Congressman Obey! Is he still around?
