New mini split doesn't seem to be working right

So I had a Daikin 24k btu mini split installed a month and half ago. I just started running it a for the 1st time a few days ago, past few everything was keeping cool . I'm running 4 1ooow by the way but only have 3 of them running because garden is not full yet. Reason I just started running it is for the past month the only had 2 of the 1000w running and was able to keep temps down with inline fan and the fact that the northeast is still winter and cold. Anyways I just went down in garden 10 mins before lights went out and temps where 85f. Wtf could be causing this? This is a new unit installed by a friend of a friend who is a HVAC guy. Any input would be appreciated, thanks

I think I had set at 68-69f, fan speed was at 3. So perhaps I had set to low without enound fan speed. I wanted to see what it could handle. Figured no big deal, it's a 24k btu and I'm only running 3-1k lights at the moment.
I wouldn't be able to tell if it iced up now because lights and ac went off an hour ago. Just have to see what's going on at 5pm. What the fuck do you do if you lost charge?...haha.

If the charge is low it will need to be pumped down (reclaim whats left) then find the leak (pressure test with nitrogen) and repair the leak. Then a proper charge needs to be weighed in.

I usually let my units run with fan speed set to auto.

Ya I'll throw it on auto tonite, I was just getting familiarized with the unit. Hopefully all is good and there are no leaks, thanks for the advice.

Check the evaporator coil (the one inside) when the unit seems to not be cooling. If the charge is low it often ices up and then air can't flow well causing it to ice up more. That can also happen if the fan isn't moving enough air over the coil (dirty filter) but usually it's a low charge, especially since your unit is basically new. If the charge gets really low most units will stop and blink an error code.

Ya I will check, there was no error code on controller, thankfully. When lights kick on I will run a error code check on controller it's pretty easy to do. Hopefully it's not a leak considering it's a brand new unit and brand new everything.

i have a same type unit in a 20x20x7 with 6 hid lights set up in my area .........the fan alone it not enough .......u need to set up a vortex in the room to move the air around .....it will lower the cost of the AC...but it can cause PM issues if they are present in the area

ideally u want to make a light breeze over the plants to remove the IR heat and to pass the hot air and cold air around to get a stable temp ........temps of 85F are perfectly ok if u are adding Co2 .....if u are not adding Co2 then u should drop them by at least 8 degrees

Ya I'm running a sealed room w/co2 and I have scrubber to 6" in line fan blowing air around the room and for order control. It's on 24/7. Also have 2 oscillating fans on the wall blowing air and co2 over plants.

ok then i got u ......love crazy me

your going to need several depending on the area........have u heard the term air polishing

basically u have a bunch of carbon filters hooked up sitting on the floor of the grow area sucking in the air and then dumping it out above the light /plants ( cool air plus Co2) halo effect

just make sure u match the carbon filters to the fans CFM so u get the full 12/15 months out of it ........if u under size CFM not all the carbon is used best u can except is 6-8 months

your are Co2......85 is more then ok try to keep under 88f.....if u can drop it to under 80 get higher thc numbers .....watch humidity want to keep in the 50%s ....co2 burners can bum it to where need dehumidifier

please note when i say vortex is mean a vortex not a brand

in a room u take 2 fans and face them so the air in the room is moving in a vortex no just sitting still

think mini tornado ...........ideally it is moving the air around so if u place your hand on the top the plant the top of your hand is not uncomfortable after 30 secs

Funny you mention that because I have tried to mount my fan to rafters above lights twice now. Even done properly it seemed to vibrate my floor above which is annoying as fuck. So I just threw the carbon filter upright on the ground and stuck fan on top sucking air through filter and out.
Also I run a tank on a timer, no burner.

if u want to mount a fan to something ........u know those all rubber bungie cords they sell .......use one of those between the wood and the fan mount it will take the vibartions away


what u did is good ........Co2 is a heavy gas with it on the bottom with the colder air u get a halo effect over the plants .......if u can use several and u will see a improvement on the plants with a decrease on the tank refills

^ this is how I have fans hanging in veg tents. I previously had my inline fan hanging that way in bloom room before but didnt like the way it looked but might have to go back to it...though I dont mind it on the floor.

I have a 4 ton lennox minisplit that had a sensor remote that kept messing the room up I had to end up hard wiring the thermostat because the unit wouldn't shut off it drop the room to like 40 one night before I change to wall mount thermostat

Once thing I forgot to mention is the remote dropped from the top of the hood that I didnt have on. It fell pretty hard- batteries flew out, ect(I was placing it on top of the hood cause its close to the split for the signal, going to mount it on the wall tonite). I just popped em back in and turned it back on and off...all seemed to be well but it did just came to mind when you mentioned that.
