New Line of NPKs

Good Morning All,

I am here for purely research means. My company develops and manufactures high quality nutrients and additives (both organic and conventional) as well as organic pesticides for the agriculture industry. I have been working to bring some of my products to the hydroponic industry with some success. My company is out of Southwest Florida, so you can see my issue with research in your field of expertise.

I am looking to develop a line of NPKs for your industry, most likely for a drip to waste and soil medias. I have an idea on what I would like to do, but I figured why not go straight to the experts and ask them what they want.

I have the capabilities to develop anything, including a line similar to RAW solubles. We have a brilliant biophysicist (with other credentials) who has developed our current products and can create anything!

I was thinking about a Grow 6-3-9, Bloom 3-6-9, and a Base 1-1-1. I chose these ratios for a specific reason, but until I get my trademark going I do not want to reveal my reasons.

Please fill me in on what you want as a consumer!

I like simplicity.
Your ratios are much like what I use. I use 9-3-6 for grow and I personally won't buy a grow nute with more K than N, but you have your reason for doing it that way. I use 3-12-6 for bloom nutes. I like your bloom ratio a lot. I don't believe in the abuse and overuse of P.

Good luck.

Thanks for your feedback, why not more K than N?

Your welcome.

Short answer, because it's not needed.

Long answer, too much K is hard to see because it looks like other problems. It looks like Mg def or manganese def because it will change the speed they are taken in. Then a person might add something not needed to treat cal/mag issues and lock out other things.

Your numbers are probably not high enough to cause any problems, but some "cannabis specific" nute lines have enough K to be a bad thing so anyone reading this thread needs to know that.

I'm an old school grower and I like to give em what they need and not give em what they don't need.

I want a product line that is effective, balanced and won't suck off the neighbors dog when you leave to go to the store for more beer.

N:K ratio isn't actually that important. N can be lower than K. My own grow formula is actually close to an NPK of 1 : 1 : 2 ratio

What's important is the K:Ca:Mg ratio. Too much K in general (assuming pH doesn't change) will mean too high K:Ca and K:Mg ratios

Thanks for all the input, I really appreciate it. I want to give this industry more than pretty labels and slogans.

As mentioned before my
experience is in tomatoes, peppers, and citrus. These guys love K and Ca. It's what builds fruits with lots of flavor texture and brix.

Something else I have noticed is there are a lot of CaMg formulas, but no bloom setting formulas namely CaB mixtures.

Also I will check out that website!

The market is saturated, so you would need a shtick LOL. The young are going more for organic feel good type formulas so perhaps a hybrid? Concentrate more on whats in it instead of the raw ratio's. Purity, integrity and affordability are winners. These are all attributes a winning company like Advanced Nutrients possess. (e-casm)

Which is Muriate of Potash which is Potassium Chloride. For the same price you buy a 500g Dense you can get a 25kg bag of the stuff at any agricultural wholesaler.
Yup i know.. just have not yet made it out there to do that yet.. I understand most this shit is overpriced with fancy labels.. Like i said if they can liquify veg n bloom then they will have best food bar none.. i use it for everything from peppers to buds...

Well at least 60% of the food/additive products you see in a hydro store are over priced because its basically raw food salts and food colouring. Carb products are Dextrose. I buy Dextrose from a food wholesaler, package it up into containers and sell it at my store for what I pay wholesale from the hydro wholesalers. Still make the same money while the customer gets is super cheap. Dextrose costs me like $300 for 250lb (5 x 50lb bags), that's the min amount I can buy from Sysco.

It's funny that you mention a hybrid nutrient, because I am taking our OMRI Listed organic plant and soil profiler (1-1-1) and I am going to add low salt plant food extracts. Due to our process the actual final result could be considered organic, but I will be calling it a hybrid. Thanks for the input, I have been hearing nothing but good news thus far!

When it comes to price I am with you (the consumer). Sometimes it is tough for companies to get prices very low due to the chain of commerce (manufacturer, wholesaler, distributor), everyone has to make a profit and pay the bills. That being said I will not dispute that there are those who do gouge.

Note to all. It will always be cheaper to buy in large bags form an agricultural supplier, I know, because I am one. Just remember when you buy the products tailor made for small growers and those who do not have enough knowledge to create their own brew or mix.

I am excited to get to work on these nutrients, as soon as I have the trademark I will fill you in on the products names and "shtick". If any of you would like to check out what I have thus far shoot me a message and I would be happy to direct you to my website.
