I just got my T5 HO today. ITs nothing expensive. i found someone selling their old setup after upgrading their first grow. I picked up a 4 bulb 4 footer. It has 5k bulbs now but i think im going to stagger the 6400k veg bulbs with 3k bloom. i have been all over the forum and it seems like the general vote is to give the plants both blue (veg) and red (flower). My question is if that mix is best for the life of the plant or just to implement the red bulbs during the flower period? :peace:

I run mixed bulbs, but then I jumped on the 12/12 from seed bandwagon. Even before I did, though, I grew with mixed bulbs. If you are not running separate veg. and flower areas the mix is the best compromise.

Will you be doing anything for side lighting?

at the moment I wont have side lighting. This is my first grow and I want to use only the T5 i just got in a mylar covered 4'Lx3'Dx5'H tent. Im looking into getting 2 4 foot 2 bulb T5 for the sided on my next grow. I have a growing buddy who will be giving me 3 hash plant clones (1 week after rooting) for my first run.

Keep 'em close, and try a SOG/SCROG to increase the yield.

Good luck!
DO you think a noob grower would be able to handle a sog/scrog grow on his first go? I have been looking into both and they dont seem to be too complicated. Im just worried about not having the experience to tackle a technique like that. lol I have a tendency to over think/analyze things. What are your thoughts minnesmoker?

I think... Read, read, and read some more. Yes, I think a new grower, especially one who's also got IRL assistance can grow a sog/scrog.

Kinda' like any other aspect of growing -- you won't have enough experience to do it, until you've done it. Read, research, get all the knowledge you can on the technique(s) you plan on using, approach with optimistic caution, and patience.

ive had good results using 3 blue and one red for veg, and then 3 red and one blue for flower. ive also heard mixing the spectrum a little can help make the buds a little more dense.

being a noob myself, I am just trying to get the basics down as there is a lot to learn....so I agree with minnesmoker to read lots, but as I have noticed there is a wide varity of opinions....hard to know which is right for your own situation/enviroment.

I'll just be happy if I can get my first grow to produce any amount of buds....I have no exceptations on matching these guys with years of experence on my first grow.
