New kid on the block

What's up everyone!?

I'm here from the Midwest getting my feet wet in this art form of growing. For me this is a full circle journey... at 34 I remember indulging in trying to roll joints and blunts at 14, 15.. until we finally got it and knew what we were doing LOL, Garcia Vegas and Swishers were king in the Midwest... that's when swishers were super fat, like the size of a stogie. We'd empty that joint, roll up, blaze... and just be teens! Hella seeds were always in the herb, so of course we'd try to grow! It started from just throwing some seeds in the dirt inside the yard of an abandoned house in the neighborhood, and eventually progressed to throwing seeds in some cups in someones house (the dude with the cool mom, that already smoked weed)... Needless to say, we never actually succeeded at growing sh*t, in spite of, those were till some dope ass times!

Fast forward to 34... married with children (s/o to Al Bundy), just quit a sh*tty corporate job and now basically re-learning myself, I think its time to dive in the growing pool. Around 28 I stopped smoking, went through some personal things, had a daughter born with a heart condition, lost a few close friends and family members, and I allowed alcohol to become a crutch for me and I lived as a high functioning alcoholic from 28 up until 2 months ago, it was my 2nd relapse... tried to quit and went through severe withdrawals that led me in the hospital for a week doing a medical detox. Soon as I got out of the hospital I told my wife "I'm going back to herb", over the last few month I've been realizing how experience the herb has gotten! Sheesh! With this new level of freedom, and starting to unplug from the matrix (corporate America), I decided to take on a new hobby, and save myself some of the money I do have! "Why not try to grow?"

Here I am, that's my boring ass story. Idk why I got a little candid and just laid those personal truths out? Probably the joint I just lit, and the fact I needed to vent LOL. Peace!

Welcome, and congrats on quitting! Plenty of well informed people on here to guide you to the promise land

Welcome to RIU!

Glad you came through the other side. Three years, four months sober here and wouldn’t trade it for anything. Find your peace. Takes time, but the journey’s worth it.
Thank you, and congrats on your sobriety! That journey can be a monster, as I am learning! However, I sincerely appreciate encouragement!
