I was also going to ask about the orgin of your NL. I would like to start off by saying that i am no expert, but the biggest plant you have there has shorter fatter leaves than my NL plants. Shorter fatter leaves are associated with an Indica or Indica-dominent hybrid. NL is to my knowledge stavia- dominent, so you should expect it to have longer skinner leaves, as does mine.

Sorry to say bro, but Northern Lights is a pure indica and is one of the most strong and famous cannabis strains. Created at the end of the '80, NL is a little plant with wide-fingered indica leaves.:weed:

I dunno, when I bought them I was looking for mostly indica, have a look at Nirvana-shop.com for more info...

edit: see post above...

u got some claws on her leaves

if i were you i would try transplantin her and put her directly under the hps,and focus the light mainly on her,she will finish way before the sativas and then you could just keep lstin the sativas

Ya bro, I have been looking for a pure NL for a while man. I hear it helps with insomina, chronic pain and anxiety. I also need a reputible source to order from and I hate growing unfem seeds.....

Currently, I am growing the purps and in 22 days of flowering. You can see my journal if you click the lower part of my post where it says:

cfl grow 4th time around. Look at the end of my thread for some bud porn LOL......

I thought about transplanting her but its in a long self-watering type pot... she hasn't got that long too go and I've got her babies growing as mum's. And I just want some smoke!!bongsmiliebongsmilie

self waterin pots are bad for pot, take her out carefully and rinse the roots in luke warm water then carfully transfer her to a 5gal bucket, the extra space will make her want to add tons of weight:weed:

Yeah I did say its my first soil grow, I also should filled the pot to the top but its a couples of inches down, anyway do you really think its worth stressing her that much this late in flowering? She seems fine so I'm reluctant, you know what I mean?

The ones on the side definitely got stretched. When you cant lower your light cause of different height plants then you gotta raise the plants.

A shelf would have helped a Lot for those ones on the side.

The one under the light on the long pot looks Great. Shes a Lovely specimen. I would let her finish it out in that pot, but in the future for soil I would use minimum 3 gal standard pots for flowering. Makes life a bit easier, and might even increase yields, hard to tell without a side by side grow.

You got a nice little space there, just need more consistency IMO. I would let the ones in there all finish flowering then load her up with 12-16 clones in 3 gal pots of soil and go for it! You could get a nice crop out of that space.

I thank you for your advice and your compliments. I really am in two minds as to which way to go, hydro or soil. They both have benefits and disadvantages. Maybe I should have hydro mums and flower in soil?

You're right about me needing consistency, I am all ass about at the moment. I planted the original 3 NL seeds hoping to get a mum. I got impatient and threw the ones in the auto-pot into flower. It happened that she was the only female.... but I got clones (soil) before she flowered so I kept the genetics.

I wanted to know what my free seeds were and I planted four hoping to get at least one female and I got three...not that I mind, so that's pretty much where I am now. I had no idea they would be sativa! I like indica, but I'm happy to accommodate them. Bit of LST helps a lot. lol

Basically when the plants I have in flower now have finished, I will rethink how I'm going to do things. I like the idea of a perpetual grow, and I think its do-able in both hydro and soil. The yield isn't important to me, and I dont worry to much about quality now, as long as it gets me high I'm happy. Where I am there is a shortage of product consistently, so you take what you can get, mainly commercial. So what I grow is better in my eyes no matter what anyone else thinks.

I've been watching your grow carefully BC so make sure you get a camera and update frequently! lol I'd say your grow will have a big influence on what I decide to do, SO DONT FAIL haha jks, no pressure, really.

What do you think about a perpetual soil grow? If I double the size of my grow cab and get another 600w HPS? I have a whole bedroom to play with, am I better off having sides to the grow area or would open room be ok? I live in a tropical climate and I cant keep the temps down with the door on the cab closed. Open room would make it easier for the split-system a/c to cool the temps off the lights and I would have a lot more room to move around the tables.

lol sorry for the long post but it is my thread...:hump::hump:

as I have seen in RIU, bigger pots don`t garantee bigger yields. It makes easier to don`t get in root, pH and overfeeding problems.
Next grow I`m definately gonna grow in smaller pots. From 17 liters to 10.

I recomend to grow mums in soil, but flower in hydro.

How big is the whole room?

Perpetual grows are alright but they need a lot of time and effort, and you need an extra res for flower because your running 2 stages of flower.

I would make a decision on dirt or hydro. Hydro is nice because you can eliminate a huge source of bugs and pests, which is the biggest downfall of growing in dirt. But dirt has the advantage of needing a lot less work, and its much cheaper to get up and running.

A well designed hydro system can be easily automated, But you need a huge start up budget.

If I were you, I would consider just polying out the whole room. Use that cab for veg, put a 250w MH in the cab, and put 2 x 600/1000w HPS on 4-6ft light rails in the main room. Put them both in cooltubes, it would be way easier to manage your temp and humidity with one big area to flower and a cab to veg.

If you own the place I would box the window (if there is one) and use it for exhaust, I would build a nice box over the window, put a black curtain in the back and regular curtains in the front, and put some cheap white christmas lights at the top, or any LED light, and just flick it them once in a while.

Once you have a nice space all set up properly then the easiest thing to do would be a dirt grow. A good tip is to get an old Deep Freezer, a big one, and freeze all your dirt/soil for minimum 4 days before using it. It will kill any bugs or larvae that might be lurking in the soil.

If you can get Promix or Sunshine mix or any soil from a reputable source you should be fine.

Even if you just use that cab you have right now. I would grow some nice big mothers that are confirmed female, take like 30-40 clones, then fill up some 3 gal pots, 12-16, see how many fit in there with out cramming them in, and do a nice simple grow.

Bit of a tip, Even if you manually move your light every few days it will help a Lot. Hang it 6-8 inches to one side, then move it 6-8 inches the other way every few days, you could increase your yields without having to buy and install a light rail.

If you havent already, you need to get some confirmed Female clones or a mother and keep her in veg. Once you have some confirmed female genetics you can kill all the males and any your unsure about and move on with peace of mind.

You got a nice little space there, You could be growing some Killer buds. :eyesmoke:

Thanks for the reply BC, the whole room is 12x12ft, but for now I might use what I got more effectively. If you scroll back up to post number 6, you'll see the veg cab on the left of the flower cab.

Good tip on the soil in the freezer, dunno if my missus will like that too much ;-) anyway, your gonna have too school me on nutrients for soil...I got no idea. I have clones from the oldest NL in veg mode, I'm waiting for them to get big enough to clone atm.

Nutes will depend on the type of soil. I use soilless dirt mediums (promix HP, sunshine mix #4) Both are mostly sphagnum peter moss, pearlite, etc. They contain absolutely No Nutes so you have to feed.

I just use regular Hydro Nutes. Some people prefer organic, I use Advance Nutes. It really depends what is available in your area. I would use either Advance nutrients or Fox Farms full line of nutes.

When using AV I use the Sensi 2 part bloom for my basic nutes, and some Big bud and carboload for the first half of flowering. I also use Sensi Cal-Mag every few feedings for any micro deficiencies.

I switch up Bigbud with Overdrive for the last 3 weeks of flower, and I usually feed 1 or 2 times with just Final Faze. Its not required but helps sweeten up the buds while flushing.

Remember with Any nutes in soil Less is More so start at like 1/4 strength of recommended doses. And don't use nutes every watering. Feed - Feed - Water is a good method. Do 2 feedings with nutes, then one big feeding with just pure PHed water. It will help prevent any nutrient salts from building up and eventually burning your plant.

Yeah you got a couple nice spaces there. Good spot to veg and a Great little flowering cab. You should definitely get it loaded up with one nice big consistent crop.

I would check out Craigslist or the local Classifieds, you could probably find a used deep freezer for real cheap if you needed it. I got one that works great for $40 CDN, the guy was just happy to have someone come pick it up. I just keep it cranked up all the way and throw my soil in there a couple weeks before using it.

After spending $70 per pack for Nematodes to kill any larvae living in soil (MG organic, came complete with Fungus knats) you wont want to take anymore chances, lol. I decided to buy some cheap organic veg soil with nutes already in it. I figured for my 2 mothers I wouldnt need an extra res to mix veg nutes. $10 worth of MG organic ended up costing me $100 to make it safe and save my new genetics.

Theres nothing quite like a healthy organic system though. Using predatory bugs to take care of problems makes life so easy..

Harvested....

The main cola. I don't have an exact weight cause my scales only go to 100 grams. I'd say about 135 grams wet.

Early samples are very tasty :weed::weed::weed:

Shit looks good man!

Looks like its gonna be some killer smoke! Your gonna have to get the whole grow area filled up with some plants like that for the next run. :bigjoint:
