New Indoor Grower Needs Advice

On December 26th, outside of 7-11, a man attacked me after I wouldn't give him change (didn't have any I used a debit card). He ended up breaking my back. After he hit me on the head with a weapon I was knocked out and fell backwards on the curb. He caused three of my disks to be crushed and some other back problems. I haven't been able to earn a dime since then. It took nearly six months but SSDI approved my disability claim.

Dr. put me on all kinds of pain meds. I missed one day and the withdrawl was something I never want to go through again. I stopped cold turkey and it took almost a month for the withdrawls to go away.

Here's my problem, because I don't want anymore opiates, I want to do a small grow in a state that doesn't have medical marijuana. What strain would be good at relieving chronic pain from a broken back and would be small enough to do in a small closet. I have everything set up and ready to go. I'm just looking for the seeds now. Something inexpensive because I only get SSDI now.

wow man that sucks, but dont worry karma has a way of straightening things out. I would recommend not growing in a state where it is illegal, but if you had to; make sure you read up on the law and grow only what you need. In some states cultivation of less than 10 plants is a misdemeanor, but that is not every state. Read the law, join your local NORML chapter and attend some meetings.

Like I said, join your local NORML chapter, the people there are fighting for your rights to choose the medicine you need. They are all sympathetic to your situation and can help

Hello,

I'm sorry to hear about that horrible situation. I hope some of this info helps. Apparently, a lof of people are saying that CBD is better for pain than THC. They work against each other in the body, so all of the strains people have bread for high THC are not going to be high in CBD.

There is a thread discussing CBDs and pain here: http://www.treatingyourself.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=41157

Also, I ust found out about a seedbank called South Humboldt that bred a super high CBD plant called Sour Tsunami. It is 90% Indica 10% Sativa and 5.2%THC with 11.3% CBD. That is 11% more CBD than most weed has in it. This is gonna be your pain killer.

I'm currently looking into that. I'm just worried that the people I talk to there might be a police officer. When I lived in Oregon years ago I was a member of NORML.

i say go for a lights out indica to start (sativas wont help you much)

try kush varieties (like hindu or afghan) go for a hashplant strain...pretty much the heaviest indicas you can find will all provide some pain relief to some extent.

it all comes down to what your body agrees with best.

since you'll be indoors and growing indicas you shouldnt have any issues with height so it looks like you'll be good to go. in my opinion visit a seedbank (attitude or wwms are good ones) and look at the descriptions of different strains...see who has what to offer and what type of effects they have or their medical uses.

in my opinion you should be from the pick and mix section and go with a few plants of different varieties. that way you can sample each type and you may find one that works perfectly...even if you dont you should find at least one strain that gets the job done in the meantime while you search for your perfect strain.

ive been smoking for a decade and i have yet to identify my ideal strain...i did smoke it though! i got it from a dealer years back that didnt know what it was...that strain made me feel heads and tails better than any other strain ive ever smoked..bar none...

now i just gotta identify it.

sorry to hear about your situation. :(

Thanks tommyo3000. That gave me a lot of information. I'm still probably three months from starting my grow. I have to save up the money for seeds. On SSDI $50 is even a fortune for me. Thank GOD I paid my house off last year!

Hey guy I feel your pain I was hit by a car head on over three years ago(on my motorcycle). I just my SSD last month, luckily I had LTD (Long Term Disability). I would suggest Aurora/Papaya/ or Bubblelicious all all available @ Nirvana seed bank (www.nirvanashop.com.) I would also suggest Dr. Chronic's read it will help. Other wise a smaller grow room 3X4 and 5 plants with a MH/HPS and a few CFL's would put you in business. You could add a T5 HO if funds are there.Let me know if I can help more.

No problem, man. I understand what a bitch the SSI system is. My GF is trying to get disability for a lifelong bipolar problem and I've been involved in the bullshit of getting them to accept the claim.. My brother in CA is also a med patient. He turned me on to that high CBD strain just today. Seeds are $10 each I believe (for medi card holders of course).

I am gonna get some next week to mess with genetically..

Keep in touch on the boards.. I am interested in good strains for medical uses, too.

I was just reading about CBD it is also helpful for some other problems I have. I use to do a few plants outside each year just for myself. This was in the southern Oregon area. I've never grown inside. I have an area set up that is three X three. I have a 250 HPS light. I have lined the closet with mylar. I made myself a hydro bubbler out of an old 7-11 plastic tote (very thick green plastic). It is about the size of a rubbermaid and holds about 12 gallons of water. Everything is ready except for the nutes and the seeds. Those are the next two things I'm saving up for. I just read Ed Rosenthal's book "The Closet Cultivator" to get an idea of what growing will be like in a small area. It seems pretty straight forward. I believe all I have to do extra is monitor the Ph levels and the TDS levels. I know I'll be back here for advise though.
