new hps grow room!

ive been a cfl grower sense I started growing and I think im ready to go hps. I have a closet 6ft long 2ft wide and with about 5 and a half maybe 6ft tall and im gonna put a 600w hps/mh cool tube with a 200 cfm fan sucking air and blowing into top of house and getting fresh air from nearby window.which has a widow unit incase temps get to high I wanna do a scrog grow but will the 600w give good light for lets say a 3 plant scrog? tryin to get 8oz of quality bud using fox farm ocean forest soil with advanced nutes and do yall think 4gal pots are good?

A 600w will COVER 5x5 yes... not well enough though. For a 600w I wouldnt go more then 4x4. My tent is 4x2 and I still have some LED for side lighting/below the canopy. If you keep your lights at optimal height range, you will not want to go more than 4x4, the outer areas will get coverage, but will not be dense buds

The 600 won't cover the 6ft well so I wouldn't even try. In which case a 3 plant scrog in 4x2 would be good. 4gal should be fine. 8oz should be very easy to hit with enough veg, probably 3-4 weeks. I'll tell ya right now FFOF is wonderful, and hot. Don't add any nutes to it for SEVERAL weeks and when you do, go half strength. If you're using synthetic nutes I'd only do quarter strength. You can get through an entire grow using FFOF with just water and get satisfactory results so keep that in mind when you start to add to it!

dude is stepping up from cfls. go with the 600 man. its really not enough for a full grow but a couple plants will be gravy if you keep them manicured . may add a few of those leftover cfls to make up for the light needed. actually now that I think about it, 6 ft by 2 ft is only 12 sq feet. so the 600 should provide good coverage. if I remember correctly its 50watts per sq ft. do the math that's 600.

ive never seen the need to measure up when the light isn't needed on the ceiling. look at a calculator .it multiplies width x length. no height option because your not growing on the ceiling.

You are ready to go HPS. Trust me. I grew with just under 400 watts worth of CFL's and thought I had some nice plants. But a 400 watt HPS blows them away. I almost got in trouble this grow as it is my first with the new light and I vegged for about 4 weeks like I always did.
Wow, did those plants take off, looks like I might be OK, as I have about 4 weeks left, and I am going to end up damn near to the light. Just wasn't prepared for how much more the plants would grow. Oh, I also have 200 watts worth of CFL side lighting.

You're right, it is 12 square feet. alwaysgreen420 was thinking cubic feet, which would be 60.

Did you use the HPS from the beginning of 12/12 and didn't use a blue spectrum for the first 2 weeks of 12/12?

they'll be a lil shorter id say because of the 12 12 from the start. but the plant isn't going to sex until its mature enough to do so. ive read a lot on here about it and have done dwc 12 12 and had great results.

If you got better results with a 600 than a 1k then something went wrong. 600's are more efficient as far as coverage per light but the 1k will outperform a 6 all day every day.

well I have a 125 watt cfl blue spectrum I could also put in are I could maybe put in a tarp and cut it down to 4 feet instead of 6
