Hi this is my first time posting so let me know if something id wrong.
OK so I'm using a hydro system but to start my seeds, Isprouted them in
Rockwool cubes. I soaked the cubes and planted my seeds. About 4 days later
They are maybe 1 inch tall and leaning is this normal? I have 2 seedlings under
2 foot tube of Fl in a 1 by 2 foot area

what your seeing the stretch is root growth.
everything under the cotyledons is root, everything above them is Shoot growth.
It's normal, the name of the game is to get above all the other competing plants.

IMO- if you want to keep your sprouts short you need loose material for them to root in.

Good Luck on Your Grow

Hi Comvandam,
Welcome to RIU...I'm pretty new also.

sorry you're having seedling problems. Prop them up like I see you're doing and hope for the best. Don't keep cubes too wet. I did seed starts and clones on rockwool and had no major issues...so it can be done.

One of the hydro guys and mods on the forum is AlBFuct and this is what he says about rockwool. He uses it.

Good luck,

Thanks guys, how do I know when to water? And on the first water should it just be water or nutrient rich water?
Thanks for your inputs

Cam,'Just keep the cube moist with water. Feel it or lift it...but don't let it get too dry either. Some people use droppers, I used my spray bottle adjusted to a jet and carefully dampened the cube.

If they survive and show a hint of yellow on leaf tip...then start mild nutrients. 1/4 strength at most.

You should line them under the light. And get ur light like 2" above them. No more. That could be part of your stretch.

As long as you didn't squish the rockwool, it has the ability to keep a perfect air-to-water ratio at all times, regardless of how much you water it.

With that said, you don't want it sitting in a pool of runoff.

Any time I've thrown anything in rockwool (which isn't often), I prefer to mist myself. Preventing it from drying out is the most important thing.

Will it looks like they aren't going to make it but I thinkI know some of the problems now. I'm going to be
Starting 2 more seedlings.this time ill soak rock wool in distilled water without any nutes like three first
Time. And I'm going to be using a metal halide light 400Watts.
How high should it be?
